Some good advice from Kim Komando re recording video on the iPhone. Sure hope an app is developed soon! I'm not willing to jailbreak my phone yet.

The iPhone does not include a tool for recording video. The problem isn't that the iPhone isn't capable of recording video. It is. However, it does not include an application that will do it. Nor is there one in the App store. a number of developers are working on video recorders. In fact, you can download a video recording app online. Several are available. I strongly recommend that you avoid these apps, though. Why? The fact that they're not in Apple's App Store is a big clue. They're not approved by Apple. In yet another sign of the App Store's imperfections, Apple has banned the third largest App Store developer, getting rid of almost a thousand applications. Once you see what applications they "developed", you will see why.

Screencasting software for desktop/laptops is fully developed** - users can record screens while opening and closing applications and have access to post production elements (titles, transitions, trimming, etc) all from within the software. iPad apps are not so fully developed yet - with iOS4, users can only record what is going on within the screencasting app.
