Base metal futures may rise early next week on hopes of improved demand following upbeat US jobs data, but profit booking at higher levels and demand concerns from China will limit gains. The price of copper responded with unusual vigor to Friday's strong payroll report. The metal's most actively traded futures contract jumped 6.8%, hitting a threeweek high and staging what Dow Jones Newswires says was the biggest single-day gain in a year and a half. Copper finished up over 6% as shorts scrambled to cover after Nonfarm Payrolls and the Unemployment Rate in the US came in better than expected. Gold prices were pressured by strong US equity markets which touched a record high and dented gold's safe haven appeal. Outflows from gold-backed exchange-traded funds showed no signs of abating and fell to the lowest level since August 2009. SPDR Gold Trust, the world's largest gold-backed exchangetraded fund's holdings fell 0.31 percent to 1062.30 tonnes on Monday from 1065.61 tonnes on Friday. The stock market has opened feeble on September F&O expiry day. The BSE Sensex is down 71.40 points or 0.3 percent at 25751.59 and the NSE Nifty slips 10.45 points or 0.1 percent at 7835.50. Around 267 shares have progressed, 160 shares declined, and 29 shares are unaltered. Lupin, NTPC, Sun Pharma, Bajaj Auto and HUL are top gainers while ICICI Bank, HDFC, Axis Bank and Tata Steel are major losers in the Sensex.

The market has opened higher after positive lead from global companions. The BSE Sensex rose 83.62 points to 26276.60 and the Nifty NSE climbed 25.20 points to 8002.30. Around 515 shares have progressed, 149 shares declined, and 27 shares are unaltered on the BSE. Infosys, M&M, Axis Bank, ONGC, BHEL, Bosch and Bank of Baroda were driving counters in early trade, up 0.8-1.3 percent. Nonetheless, Hindalco topped the selling list, down 1.8 percent.

Grasim industries profit is expected to fall 12 percent year on year to Rs 112 crore, according to the market analyst. Ultratech the major contributor in the profit of Grasim industries.
