NCDEX Spices Report: Most jeera contracts on the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange ended down over 1% as commencement of new crop arrivals weighed on the sentiment, while pepper futures gained support from tight supply in local market amid good winter demand. In key Unjha market, exchange-deliverable quality jeera quoted 13,900 rupees per 100 kg, down 100 rupees from Wednesday. Expectations of higher output in leading producer Gujarat are likely to weigh on jeera prices in the near term. Coriander futures ended lower due to thin demand from stockists and profit booking at higher price levels, analysts said. Pepper futures ended higher due to prevailing tight supply in major spot markets. Concerns over probable crop loss also supported prices. The supply in major spot market continued to be limited due to delayed harvest and ongoing allegation over the stocks in NCDEX accredited warehouse. According to IPC, in 2012 Brazil exported 29080 tonnes of pepper, valued at $192 million as against 32640 tonnes valued at $207 million in 2011. MCX Silver Price Today: SILVERMIC prices on MCX slipped. At 15:50 hrs MCX SILVERMIC February contract was trading at Rs 57283 down Rs 408, or 0.71%. The SILVERMIC rate touched an intraday high of Rs 57630 and an intraday low of Rs 57250. So far 38590 contracts have been traded. SILVERMIC prices have moved up Rs 783, or 1.39% in the February series so far. Silver prices were trading lower in major metros in India.
