Every day more people join the world of eBook lovers, having suddenly decided to take the plunge and buy a new Kindle or some other eBook reader. Along with your new purchase (or your decision to buy) comes the realization that you now need to know a lot more about how you're going to find great free eBooks to read. At MakeUseOf, we've written plenty of articles on how to find free eBooks, but it was about time we made a primer for those of you who haven't been researching very long. There are a number of different ways to get great free content on to your eBook reader, to organise your eBooks and to read eBooks without a dedicated eBook gadget. Here's everything you need to know.

The best days of librarianship are ahead of us. However, to get there the field must step back, refocus, and reexamine our core principles. We as a profession have become so focused on the trees of standards and process that we are now at risk from missing the larger forest of opportunities. This talk presents a view of a new librarianship, one focused on knowledge and action instead of artifacts and collection. The presentation will look beyond the trends of today's technologies to a durable new librarianship that focuses on innovation, leadership, and service.

This resources database is an open database of resources about OER; for example, papers in academic publications, newspapers articles about OER, interviews, etc. This is not a database of OER, although we do encourage resources about OER to themselves be open. A list of OER blogs can be found on the News in Open Education page.
