Photobucket is an awesome tool for showcasing the students.  Take pictures, or video.  Then you can easily manage and turn the pictures into slideshows...copy the html.. and post to your class website.  OR- use the slideshow in an email home to the parents... The choices are unlimited!!!

Very fun way to turn a lesson into a DIGITAL POSTER. Student Side- Have them posterize an important events, a book, a main character...etc. Teacher side- Use it for a lesson that incorporates different videos, graphics, and ideas for organizational purposes.

SurveyMonkey: Free online survey software & questionnaire tool - 10 views

Create free online surveys. I have used Survey Monkey with the English department @VBHS to get feedback about the summer reading requirements. Results allowed the department to make decisions about what assignments and books would be part of this requirement. The district has also used Survey Monkey to research professional development opportunities you'd like to see offered. Survey Monkey can also be used with students to get an idea of what they know and/or what choices they might like to have in an assignment. Results are presented graphically which is a great use for a Statistics class or to use when teaching percentages.

I know Concetta Hall (8th Grade History Teacher at SGMS) uses Survey Monkey each month for our "Citizens of the Month." This makes it super easy for her to compile the results and determine the winner.
  •
I used SurveyMonkey to get feedback about our sustained silent reading program from the entire upper school student body at St. Ed's. It really helped us understand the effect (or lack thereof) that the program was having on students' reading habits. We emailed the survey link to the students, and they completed it during homeroom at the prompting of their teacher. Very easy to set up and, I agree, extremely easy to compile the results!

Embrace the backchannel (what's going on in the room while you are presenting). Create a "room" where the audience (your students) can ask questions, make points, get clarification and allow you to tailor what you are presenting to meet their needs.

Google Advanced Search - 7 views

Narrow search results to include reading level, language and/or file type. Great idea for a synthesis activity: Have students find a PowerPoint presentation on a topic they are studying. Then, have them modify that PPT and have them give a rationale for their modifications.
