Create "word clouds" from text you paste into a textbox. Words that are used most frequently appear more prominently than others. Great analysis tool for speeches, compare/contrast.
I have used Wordle as a tool when creating class rules. I pasted student rule ideas into Wordle and together the classes viewed the word cloud to come up with rules using the words that were the largest.
Create free online surveys.
I have used Survey Monkey with the English department @VBHS to get feedback about the summer reading requirements. Results allowed the department to make decisions about what assignments and books would be part of this requirement.
The district has also used Survey Monkey to research professional development opportunities you'd like to see offered.
Survey Monkey can also be used with students to get an idea of what they know and/or what choices they might like to have in an assignment.
Results are presented graphically which is a great use for a Statistics class or to use when teaching percentages.
