The Nifty extended its winning streak for third consecutive session and closed above 8,500 for the first time ever. Technology, metals and banks were the top sectoral gainers while oil & gas, pharmaceuticals and FMCG led the losers pack.

Equity benchmarks started off the week on negative note, falling for the second consecutive session on Monday weighed down by banks and oil & gas stocks Sensex down 135 points to 25,991 and Nifty closed at 7749 down 49 points. Midcap and Smallcap stocks fell from 0.4 to 0.7 per cent.

Indian benchmark indices rose for a second consecutive session on Wednesday as bluechips climbed on hopes that Delhi election defeat may prompt faster reforms by the Modi government through the upcoming federal budget. Sensex was up 178.4 points or 0.6% at 28534.0, while Nifty was up 61.9 points or 0.7% at 8627.4.

The Nifty - 50 was at 7,779, up by 47 pts or 0.62 per-cent. It reached a high of 7,792.55 & then a low of 7,768.50 in the early 30 minutes of trade. The 30-share index was trading at 25,645, went up 162 pts or 0.64 per-cent. It reached a high of 25,680.76 and a low of 25,616.33 in morning session. BSE S&P Smallcap Index was trading 0.84 per-cent higher & the S&P BSE Midcap Index went up 0.77 %.

Today, Sensex breaks at 25000, the market expanded losses in morning trading session with the Sensex breaking at 25000, down by 410.08 pts or 1.61 per-cent to 24996.25.
