Apar Industries surges 5.48% Shares of Apar Industries are trading at Rs 196.25, up Rs 10.2, or 5.48% at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Thursday at 11:07 a.m. The reason is the company has received orders from other customers for supply of high temperature conductors (HTC) worth Rs 250 millions. The scrip has touched an intra-day high of Rs 201.60 and low of Rs 184.30. The total volume of shares traded at the BSE is 65,363. In the earlier session, the shares climbed 2.09%, or Rs 3.8, at Rs 186.05. Currently, the stock is trading down 30.9% from its 52-week high of Rs 284 and above 15.95% over the 52-week low of Rs 169.25. Jyothy Lab falls 2.91% Shares of Jyothy Laboratories are trading at Rs 223.40, down Rs 6.7, or 2.91% at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Thursday at 10:48 a.m. The reason is company acquired 14.9% stake in Henkel India. This move will make JLL the single largest Indian shareholder. The scrip has touched an intra-day high of Rs 254 and low of Rs 221.25. The total volume of shares traded at the BSE is 217,783. At the NCDEX, chilli futures for October 2012 contract closed at Rs. 5,390 per quintal, up by 1.05 per cent, after opening at Rs. 5,324 against the previous closing price of Rs. 5,334. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 5,410.

Cardamom prices extended gains, rising by 2.02 per cent on Monday at the domestic markets at the domestic markets as traders increased their positions tracking a pick up in the demand for the commodity due to the upcoming festival and wedding season in the midst of low arrivals. At MCX, Cardamom futures for December 2012 contract were trading at Rs. 864.50 per kg, up by 2.02 per cent, after opening at Rs. 849.70 against the previous closing price of Rs. 847.40. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 872.80 till the trading.

Nickel prices closed higher by 0.67 per cent on Wednesday at the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) in the midst of a pick up in the demand from alloy makers in the market. Nickel futures for December 2012 contract, at MCX, closed at Rs. 887.40 per kg, up by 0.67 per cent after opening at Rs. 884.50 against the previous closing price of Rs. 881.50. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 893.20. Major producers of Nickel are Russia, followed by Australia, Canada, New Caledonia and Indonesia, which represents over 65 per cent of total world production.

Chana prices closed lower by 0.96 per cent on Thursday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited as a result of the steady sowing progress of pulses along with high supplies in major producing states. At the NCDEX, chana futures for December 2012 contract closed at Rs. 4,233 per quintal, down by 0.96 per cent, after opening at Rs. 4,275 against the previous closing price of Rs. 4,274. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 4,225.

Maize prices closed lower by 0.76 per cent on Thursday at NCDEX as a result of heavy selling activity by the traders on account of higher global supplies and weak offtakes from the local buyers. At the NCDEX, maize futures for December 2012 contract closed at Rs. 1,443 per quintal, down by 0.76 per cent, after opening at Rs. 1,458 against the previous closing price of Rs. 1,454. Falling for the fifth straight day, the BSE benchmark Sensex today closed 20 points lower after wiping out initial gains on a bout of profit-selling in bluechips like NTPC, CIL, ICICI Bank and L&T. At the NCDEX, castor seed futures for October 2012 contract closed at Rs. 3,762 per quintal tonnes, down by 1.57 per cent, after opening at Rs. 3,800 against the previous closing price of Rs. 3,822. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 3,761.

At the NCDEX, maize futures for September 2012 contract closed at Rs. 1,516 per quintal, up by 0.26 per cent, after opening at Rs. 1,515 against the previous closing price of Rs. 1,512. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 1,535

At the NCDEX, jeera futures for September 2012 contract closed at Rs. 13,900 per quintal, down by 2.56 per cent, after opening at Rs. 14,280 against the previous closing price of Rs. 14,265. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 13,695.

At the NCDEX, coriander futures for September 2012 contract closed at Rs. 4,000 per quintal, down by 3.31 per cent, after opening at Rs. 4,097 against the previous closing price of Rs. 4,137. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 3,972.

Zinc futures for September 2012 contract, at MCX, were trading at Rs. 106.50 per kg, up by 1.28 per cent after opening at Rs. 105.30 against the previous closing price of Rs. 105.20. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 106.85 till the trading.
