MCX-SX, India's third full-fledged equity bourse after BSE and NSE, will go live today (Monday, February 11) with its 40-stock Index named SX40. The SX40 will be a free-float based index of large-cap and liquid stocks, representing diverse sectors. The base value will be 10,000 with a base date of March 31, 2010. The index included companies that have a minimum free float of 10 percent and must have a positive net-worth. MCX-SX has taken stocks from 100 liquid companies for its SX40. Inflation, as measured by the wholesale price index (WPI), fell to a steep -2.06 percent, marking the fourth straight month of deflating prices. WPI inflation for December was revised lower from 0.11 percent to -0.5 percent. The February contraction was led by a monthon-month decline in all three broad groups that make up the index. Primary articles (index weightage: 20.11 percent) were down 1.9 percent, fuel & power (weightage: 14.91 percent) fell 4.43 percent, while manufactured products (weight: 64.97 percent) were down 0.26 percent. The Nifty - 50 was at 7,779, up by 47 pts or 0.62 per-cent. It reached a high of 7,792.55 & then a low of 7,768.50 in the early 30 minutes of trade. The 30-share index was trading at 25,645, went up 162 pts or 0.64 per-cent. It reached a high of 25,680.76 and a low of 25,616.33 in morning session. BSE S&P Smallcap Index was trading 0.84 per-cent higher & the S&P BSE Midcap Index went up 0.77 %.

Indian indices gained mighty strength on Tuesday as it ended trading session at the highest point of the day. The Sensex closed at 19143.17, gaining 265.21 points while the Nifty added 85.75 points to end at 5784.25. Equity market is trading down due to some declined trend in whole domestic market. Though the markets made substantial gains today, they lost much of it in the last hour of trade to close about 0.8% up. Capital goods and banking were the biggest laggards in today's session and support came primarily from auto, IT and oil & gas. The Sensex closed at 16939, up 154 points from its previous close, and the Nifty shut shop at 5098, up 48 points. The CNX Midcap index closed with 0.4% loss while the BSE Smallcap index was down 0.3% in today's trade.
