Cardamom prices extended gains, rising by 2.02 per cent on Monday at the domestic markets at the domestic markets as traders increased their positions tracking a pick up in the demand for the commodity due to the upcoming festival and wedding season in the midst of low arrivals. At MCX, Cardamom futures for December 2012 contract were trading at Rs. 864.50 per kg, up by 2.02 per cent, after opening at Rs. 849.70 against the previous closing price of Rs. 847.40. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 872.80 till the trading.

Gold prices continued its downward journey, falling for the third day on Wednesday at the domestic markets in the midst of subdued physical demand for the bullion in the domestic spot market.

Gold futures for April 2013 contract, at MCX, were trading at Rs. 29,558 per 10 grams, down by 0.04 per cent after opening at Rs. 29,565 against the previous closing price of Rs. 29,569.

Gold futures closed lower in the domestic market on Saturday as investors offloaded their positions in the precious metal amid sluggish physical demand for the bullion in the domestic market. Physical demand for the precious metal by importers has eased with prices touching record high, making gold unattractive at existing levels.

Nickel futures surged in the domestic market on Monday as investors created fresh positions in the base metal amid a pickup in physical demand for nickel in the domestic market.

Cardamom prices reverses its previous day's losses, rising by 0.79 per cent on Thursday at the domestic markets as a result of good buying support from both exporters and upcountry buyers and also on hopes of improved export demand ahead of winter season.
