Nickel prices closed higher by 0.67 per cent on Wednesday at the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) in the midst of a pick up in the demand from alloy makers in the market. Nickel futures for December 2012 contract, at MCX, closed at Rs. 887.40 per kg, up by 0.67 per cent after opening at Rs. 884.50 against the previous closing price of Rs. 881.50. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 893.20. Major producers of Nickel are Russia, followed by Australia, Canada, New Caledonia and Indonesia, which represents over 65 per cent of total world production.

Bharat Heavy Electricals is currently trading at Rs 228.00, up by 5.60 points or 2.52% from its previous closing of Rs 222.40 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs 224.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs 228.50 and Rs 224.00 respectively. So far 190157 shares were traded on the counter.

Crude oil slipped 1.3 per cent to Rs 4520. Natural Gas trades at Rs 271.1 with a weakness of 1.3 per cent. Gold prices has come down to Rs 26300. Silver has declined by Rs 500 and its prices has come to Rs 36,000. Copper fell 0.25 percent and trading at Rs 404.5 . Lead declined by 0.5 percent.

Chana prices closed lower by 0.96 per cent on Thursday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited as a result of the steady sowing progress of pulses along with high supplies in major producing states. At the NCDEX, chana futures for December 2012 contract closed at Rs. 4,233 per quintal, down by 0.96 per cent, after opening at Rs. 4,275 against the previous closing price of Rs. 4,274. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 4,225.

Maize prices closed lower by 0.76 per cent on Thursday at NCDEX as a result of heavy selling activity by the traders on account of higher global supplies and weak offtakes from the local buyers. At the NCDEX, maize futures for December 2012 contract closed at Rs. 1,443 per quintal, down by 0.76 per cent, after opening at Rs. 1,458 against the previous closing price of Rs. 1,454. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 1,436

The scrip opened at Rs. 218.65 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 219.50 and Rs. 216.80 respectively. So far 138244 shares were traded on the counter.

Crude oil prices slipped by 1 per cent to Rs 4,700. Natural Gas trading with a gain of 0.25 percent at Rs 267.6. Gold is trading around 26,500. Silver prices has reached at Rs 36500 with a modest growth of 0.5 per cent. and the price is Rs 36,500. Nickel and Aluminium trading in a pressure with a weakness of 0.1 percent. Copper is trading at Rs 411.3 with a gain of 0.3 per cent. Lead and Zinc has 0.1 & 0.2 percent growth respectively.
