You are dealt five random photos for each draw, and your task is to select one each time to add to a selection of images, that taken together as a final set of 5 images- tell a story in pictures.

When you are done, you the option to add a title and explanation, then you can save the story so you can put a link in your resume or send to your Mom (she pay print it out and tape it to the fridge, or she may criticize your creativity, your mileage and mom may vary). Plus we offer the ability to tweet your story or use an embed code to add it to your own web site.

    Convert text to images. Fantastic
  •
I agree! You can try it with short poems, with lists of words -basically any kind of text but the site says it seems to work better with shorter texts. At the time I tried it there was no saving option; on the other hand, each photo is linked to its original source so it leads to a very nice tour and could possibly be turned into something else, like a game

from NCS-Tech Picture Book Maker is a super-simple, super-flexible, super-easy tool for creating … picture books! The interface is intuitive, it loads fast, and there are many, many different story elements that can be brought into each book. It would probably help for a teacher (and students!) to go through the tool in advance to see what elements they want to include, to make sure they have what they need. From there, simple storyboarding in advance should be all that's needed to develop a high quality, PRINTABLE, finished book!

I just came across this collection of fun photo adapting tools and thought this one that enables you to create a 'Wanted' poster from your own image could be a useful one to use with students or on teacher training courses.

VocabGrabber analyzes any text you're interested in, generating lists of the most useful vocabulary words and showing you how those words are used in context. Just copy text from a document and paste it into the box, and then click on the "Grab Vocabulary!" button. VocabGrabber will automatically create a list of vocabulary from your text, which you can then sort, filter, and save.

Since I have a sense of myself as a writer in the "real world" it bothers me that the way we teach writing is often artificial and bares little resemblance to real writing.
