mam as i was reading it a while ago... the article collapses but i have read and understood the first part of the article mam :) its amazing how technologies can affect today's education and way of teaching :) back then it was so impossible for us to imagine a classroom without chalks and boards.. but now we're innovating :) i hope to experience that first hand :)

hmm..a big yes to digital classroom. "We need to adopt technologies that will help increase the employability of our graduates," Ong.and i agree with him we need to adopt the technology for our future, I'm just worried about those people who are not capable to earn a lot of money to sent their children to school.. maybe if our government will allocate a lot of budget for our education, maybe it will be possible.

maam, in this article, it tackles here the important of technology for the students and also for the teachers. technology is a big help especially to the students and teachers because nowadays we need to adopt new technologies for us to be not left behind.

"MANILA, Philippines - Can you imagine a classroom without chalk and blackboard, manila paper, cartolinas, one-fourth sheets of paper, pencils, erasers, and attendance sheets?" before i can't imagine a classroom without those things stated above in the quoted statement, but now that i've experiencing new technologies, i can say that we can survive without those traditional materials needed for teaching and learning... technologies today are continuously bringing out information that will be really a help for the teaching and learning process.. students learned a lot because of technologies, and they are very lucky of having them, being born in the age of technology. but may i remind those who are reading my comment... books are still needed and will not be replaced by those technology...

This article is nice and meaningful...It also shows that DIGITAL Classroom is one of the big factors that the students become more intelligent. But everything had its advantages and disadvantages. in terms of disadvantages we all know that having a digital classroom or adopting the use of tablets, e-books etc. are too expensive especially for public schools , and some of the students does't know how to use it. In terms of advantages ... the LEARNING and being INTELLIGENT become wider and we can follow to the changes happened in our surroundings. In other side, I'am both fan or agreed with traditional way and with the digital, but it depends to the situation for example I teaching ALGEBRA, for me the best instructional materials i can used is the traditional way, "Chalk and Board method" because it very easy for me to discuss my lesson with the used of it rather than slides, projectors, power point, intelligent board etc. but in some situation, for example I going to discuss about how to preserve foods, the best instructional materials i going to prefer is the movie presentation or slides presentation (with the used of digital/technology) because its more effective than textual bases or by just telling it to the class how to preserve foods. UNESCO rated Korean's as the most intelligent digital readers "because they know how to search for online content and adapt new skills especially in using technology," I hope that someday we become SECOND to the KOREAN's as MOST INTELLIGENT DIGITAL READERS :)) MORE young learners are very fan of DIGITAL and TECHNOLOGY, they explored their mind and their imagination with it and their learned and enjoyed it. and the Teachers become more creative with the use of technology:))

It is a very modern topic discussed in this article. I appreciate the technology but it's not that we're going to throw the traditional way because for me chalkboard, chalk pencil and visual materials are still useful and will still be useful. To finish our works immediately and easily we can use technological gadgets and it can also be used to show things easily in discussion but visual materials still exist and it shows how dedicated we are than focusing on technology. Balance on the traditional way and modern way makes a good learning besides too KGB technology is costly, remember, poverty is still a problem we can't have too much technology without money.

this article is very nice :)) because in our generation today technology is very useful :) , but having those ipad or tablet or ebooks in the classroom is very expensive specially to those in the middle class family because sometimes they can't afford those said gadgets. i also agree to what Ong said because people /students should adapt themselves to technology so that it will increase their employability in the future. but as a student i should limit my self in using technology because sometimes technology do not provide reliable sources because some articles in the internet can be edited by those unauthorized person. as future techer in the 21st century learners i should adapt myself to those latest technology so that i would cope up with the trends :))

"fisrt of all Technology is great! and in fact it saves the time of the teachers and students because of the computers and other electronic materials in teaching. but how does the situation of those who cant afford to buy computers? i am wondering why the government did not do first what they have to do in a first place? how about giving education, rooms, materials to those poor areas here in the Philippines and the world? WE must have to identify first the needs rather than, those technology. and im not agree YET to what was goin on to our world. let we give first the education to other poor country, though it is the traditional way, the only thing here is how we will learn. i would like to say sorry if i am so late to post this. this is ronalyn parulan. my new account. and thanks to gizelle for creating my account after 4x of my try. hehehe. God Bless

It is very much indeed a great help to the Department of Education. It is nice to know that some people are willing to offer a hand to improve our educational system here in the Philippines. Even though it is good to hear that little by little we are improving our educational system through the technologies, I think we will still count many, many, many years before the digitization of all public or private schools. I am not saying it is impossible but as I can see today, DeptEd had a hard time implementing the K-12 program. The curriculum is very great and appropriate but the implementation is very poor. It is easy to say that we will change the whole curriculum but they forgot financial support, teachers and classrooms. Furthermore we are accustomed to the blackboard and chalk system maybe some teachers will be having a hard time and exert more effort to adapt to digital world. There are so many problems and factors we have to consider before implementing this. But I do believe that if other countries can do it why can't we do it as well. All we have to do is to have strong will, determination and cooperation to fulfill this dream. Change is inevitable, if we don't act now nothing will change in our system. Our country will be left behind and we will be a slave forever.

I want to agree and disagree at the same time about this article that tackles about the changes of the teaching learning process. I can't really imagine a classroom without even having chalk, blackboards, papers, pencils, etc. Let's admit the fact that when we hear the word 'CLASSROOM' the first thing that comes to our mind is the chalk and board things. There's nothing wrong in adopting the new way, but be responsible enough to know the right and wrong, the pros and cons of those things. Let me give 1 pro and 1 con of having those digital things, tablets or iPods can really help them to copy and paste or just type whatever the teacher is discussing, but the bad thing here is the decline of the penmanship of the students. Digital devices may be great learning tools, but they also offer a number of distractions to students. We all know that nowadays, our generation is already technologically advanced, and there are a lot of new gadgets and things that can help students and even teachers to make the teaching learning process easier and effective. It's good to have those digital things, but we can just forget or neglect the use of traditional tools like boards, chalks, pencil etc. because in just one snap or collapse of electricity, we can't use those digital things already. We are all aware that those digital gadgets are functioning with the help of electricity. It's still be better if we will still use blackboards and chalks, papers and pens, etc. because even electricity is on or off, teaching and learning process will still alive. One thing more, how can even the public schools adopt this kind of teaching learning process? This would be so expensive. Let's just have both :)

If these digital classrooms become reality just like what has been said in the article then, our country can be classified as one of those country with much more civilized education system. I hope that this project push through since many of the digital natives would benefit from it. What I'm just worrying about is that since almost everything now has tag price and we all know that these gadgets can cause a fortune with the less fortunate. When there's no more chalk and talk classrooms available, can parents still pay the price of education of their children? If not, then it would not be as successful as our vision. It would be just like everyone wants to see shooting stars up close but only those who have or who can afford a telescope have the capability to enjoy it more.
