    Has articles and some source material links related to World History. The site (run out of University of Illinois, by the looks) has a strong focus on 'big history.' I hadn't encountered this term before; it seems to mean looking at history not through civilisations but rather periods or regions. If that description is wrong and someone could provide more accuracy on 'big history' that would be cool.

    The journal focuses on the New World History (looking at the world at a global scale across time) as opposed to the one civilization at a time approach.     Again, the journal is not specifically focused on Big History but on the New World History, but it did have one issue on Big History as its forum: http://worldhistoryconnected.press.illinois.edu/6.3/ More links than you probably want here about Big History: http://worldhistoryconnected.press.illinois.edu/6.3/maunu2.html This month's forum is on Latin America. Other forums range the gamut of world history.

CIA FOIA - Overview - 4 views

    The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) electronic reading room of the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) offers several primary source collections for the study of Central and Eastern Europe during and after the Cold War period. The FOIA Electronic Reading Room web site was established by the CIA "to provide the public with an overview of access to CIA information, including electronic access to previously released documents." Direct web access to the following collections is now possible: # The Soviet and Warsaw Pact Military Journals is a PDF collection of "sensitive Soviet and Warsaw Pact military journals from 1961 to 1984 providing a view into Warsaw Pact military strategy". # Preparing for Martial Law: Through the Eyes of Colonel Ryszard Kuklinski is "a captivating collection of over 75 documents concerning the planning and implementation martial law in Poland from mid-1980 to late 1981. The collection release coincided with a CIA symposium honouring Colonel Ryszard Kuklinski, a member of the Polish Army General Staff and the source of the documents."

    Seems to focus especially on the Cold War. Definitely one for the conspirary theorists.

    This is a wonderful resource - the best on-line zine (oops, I mean e-journal) for world history teachers. Depending on how the editorial board feels, I might have an article published in the next WHC. I found this issue http://worldhistoryconnected.press.illinois.edu/6.2/index.html especially valuable. And the recent articles of James Diskant have been helpful too. Most of the logs were kept by naval captains, masters, lieutenants and masters' mates, although there are a few logs which were kept by boatswains or assistant surgeons. Amongst this collection of Royal Naval logs, there are a several logs which were kept by merchant ships. "

    The TwHistory project began in early 2009 with the first Twitter reenactment of the Battle of Gettysburg over a period of several weeks. TwHistory is based on the idea that historical reenactments can take place online and have positive effects for all involved. In school settings these virtual reenactments can increase engagement while providing opportunities for students to research personal journals and other primary source documents.
