Rapid Growth on Adenovirus Diagnostic Testing Market 2021: Industry Size, Share, Growth... - 0 views

  •
Adenovirus diagnostic testing is the most widely used method for determining the presence of adenoviruses in a culture of healthy volunteers and is adapted from the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method: a procedure by which DNA strands are broken down into smaller pieces, and then are subjected to amplification reactions with adenoviruses. Because adenoviruses do not copy themselves but rather undergo multiple copied copies during viral replication, several different sequences of adenoviruses will be identified by PCRs. If a suitable sequence is detected, it will be amplified and the resulting product isolated. In the case of patients suspected of having adenovirus, the adenovirus diagnostic testing is done by a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test that can be performed on the patients' blood samples. Adenoviruses that have been identified by PCR will be identified by the confirmation of specific antibodies against the virus. These specific antibodies will react against the viral copies on the strain of adenovirus in the blood samples and will provide an accurate diagnosis. Patients with suspected AD may be asked to undergo EVGI or MBO testing, both of which will confirm the diagnosis. Besides, EVGI will also provide results regarding the presence of a retrovirus in the patients' lymph nodes, and MBO testing will provide conclusive proof that the patients carry the retrovirus. The main factor driving the adenovirus diagnostic testing market is the growth of the treatment monitoring and diagnostic sector. For instance, according to Policynet, in 2018 the global healthcare sector generated a revenue of approximately US$ 1.853 trillion. Additionally, the expansion of the healthcare sectors in the emerging economies is expected to propel the market growth of adenovirus diagnostic testing. Workplace Safety Regulations - 0 views

Workplace Safety Regulations : Workplace safety is a matter of grave importance to any organization. Ensuring the safety of workers is a primary goal of most countries, no matter which kind of political system or setup they have. This is because almost no workplace is free from some or another kind of hazard. These workplaces could be as varied as hospitals, construction sites, engineering plants or agriculture and many more. Governments the world over consider it their duty to provide a safe workplace. Workplace safety can concern any hazard that can happen to either the physical or emotional wellbeing of a worker. National and global workplace safety regulations : Workplace safety regulations are legally stipulated measures that governments require organizations in both the private and public sector to implement in order to ensure safety at the workplace. Almost all countries have their own set of workplace safety regulations. These regulations work in tandem with a few global management systems with the aim of enhancing safety standards at the workplace. A notable global organization that is at the forefront of legislating workplace safety regulations is the International Labor Organization (ILO). These ILO-mandated legislations are meant to supplement the national workplace safety regulations that most countries have. This is done in the belief that many a time, these individual legislations may not be sufficient in themselves. Workplace safety regulations in the US : Like most other countries, the US too has its own set of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards. Owing their origins to the Richard Nixon era in late 1970; workplace safety regulations in the US concretized under what is collectively called the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The major feature of OSHA is that apart from promulgating workplace safety regulations across nearly all conceivable sectors and types of industries; OSHA also has a provision for whistleblow

Healthcare fraud and abuse: Healthcare fraud and abuse are different but related kinds of malpractice. They affect everyone concerned: the patient, the healthcare unit, the healthcare sector, and eventually, the economy. Healthcare fraud and abuse are serious malpractices that can have very grave consequences for the patient, the hospital and the healthcare sector. They can also cost taxpayers heavy amounts of money. Healthcare fraud: There is some distinction between healthcare fraud and healthcare abuse. Healthcare fraud is said to happen, according to medicare.gov, when Medicare gets billed for a service or supply the end user never gets. These fraudulent claims result in loss of billions of dollars of revenue to Medicare each year. Healthcare fraud could be said to happen when: False statements are submitted knowingly or facts are misrepresented with the purpose of obtaining a federal health care payment for claims for which the person is not entitled A person knowingly solicits, pays, or/and accepts a payment with the intention of inducing or rewarding referrals for services or items that any of the federal healthcare programs reimburse Eligibility is falsified Prohibited referrals are made for select, designated health services Healthcare abuse: Although related, healthcare fraud and abuse are not totally similar to each other in spirit. A healthcare abuse can be when physicians do not comply with or bypass established good medical practices or administer treatments that are not necessary. This is less serious than fraud in terms of intent, but carries the same consequences: loss of billions of dollars to the exchequer and potential damage the patient's health and the physician's and/or healthcare provider's reputation. Some examples of healthcare abuse These are some of the examples of healthcare abuse: When services that are not medically warranted are performed and charged for When services and/or supplies are charged in excess of their actual value

A brief understanding of the uses of medical coding - 0 views

  •
With more than a 100,000 practitioners in this discipline; medical coding is catching up as a viable profession for many in the US and away. Medical coding is emerging as a completely specialized profession in the healthcare sector. This is how the core of their professional work needs to be understood: Uses of medical coding On the face of it, medical coding is used for filing healthcare claims, but the usefulness of this profession goes beyond this. The data churned out by medical coding helps healthcare professionals make more accurate diagnosis and help in enhanced treatment protocols. Ensuring accuracy in medical coding is crucial to administering proper healthcare. Medical coding not only ensures a systematic and standardized manner in which third parties claim payment; the critical data that medical coding generates can be harnessed for further use The information contained in medical coding data in the form of medical codes is a precise indicator of a patient's health history. This information, when refined, helps actuaries take decisions on making investments for their business By feeding policy makers and public health departments with important information on the incidence of diseases, medical coding also fosters proper allocation of resources to the particular segment of the healthcare industry about the kind of services that the community requires at a given point of time. This leads to an improved outlook for the general health of the patient population and reduces wastage of fund allocation. Learn more on this topic by visiting : http://bit.ly/23ajt0v

What is HIPAA ? Compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is a core requirement of the stakeholders involved in health information. HIPAA has prescribed standards with which to protect critical data relating to patients. Electronic Health Records (EHRs) are important documents that contain sensitive patient data, and are thus considered Protected Health Information (PHI). Since this data is accessible to a number of players involved in the field of healthcare; it extremely important to set regulatory guidelines aimed at ensuring that patient information remains protected. HIPAA compliance is essentially about staying in compliance with these guidelines. Measures needed to show compliance with HIPAA HIPAA requires a healthcare organization dealing with PHI to implement all of the following measures and comply with them: Physical measures Network measures, and Process security measures The role of HIPAA Privacy Rule and HIPAA Security Rule HIPAA has set out two important rules that pertain to compliance. These are the HIPAA Privacy Rule and the HIPAA Security Rule. While the Privacy Rule relates to how the medical information of a patient is saved, accessed and shared; the Security Rule is about how to implement national security safeguards for protecting electronic PHI, or ePHI. Who all need to be HIPAA compliant? Since the aim of HIPAA compliance is to ensure complete safety of patient data, it has requirements for every stakeholder in the EHR process. These stakeholders comprise: Covered Entities (CE): Anyone involved in the treatment, payment and operations in healthcare Business Associates (BA): Any person who has access to patient information and is involved in supporting treatment, payment or operations. These include third-party administrators and private sector vendors Those with whom BA's work, or those that are called subcontractors Hosting providers. Health Information Security Compliance has to be guaranteed at all levels and is of man... - 0 views

  •
Health Information Security Compliance: Health information security compliance requirements from HIPAA keep risk management at the core. These requirements also have other guidelines. Health information security compliance is a vital requirement for healthcare providers. Healthcare professionals have to ensure security and privacy of Protected Health Information (PHI) and Electronic Protected Health Information (ePHI), which are part of Electronic Health Records (EHR). The guidelines, rules and requirements are mandated by HIPAA, which is in charge of ensuring that there is privacy and security of health information. Challenges associated with health information security compliance The very fact that a lot of health information is stored in electronic records makes health information security compliance all the more challenging. The way in which information flows between various players in the sector is also a factor: shared computers and information sharing with third party associates like laboratories and billers. If a healthcare organization is not compliant with health information security, it could be held indirectly responsible for issues arising out of these. HIPAA has regulations and guidelines on how providers can keep PHI and ePHI. It suggests and strongly recommends risk analysis as the basis for health information security compliance. These are set out in the Meaningful Use requirements. Some of risk analysis methods include or relate to the following: The provider's EHR software and hardware Assessment of whether the provider's practice protocols are adequate Risk assessment of the provider's physical setting and environment Risk assessment relating to staff education and training A thorough examination of EHR access controls Risk management relating to contracts with the provider's Business Associates The healthcare provider's practices in relation to patient relations and communications Physical measures for ensuring health information security c
