Seminar on Marketing Products without Getting Hammered by FDA at SFO, CA - 0 views

  •
Course "Marketing Products without Getting Hammered by FDA" has been pre-approved by RAPS as eligible for up to 12 credits towards a participant's RAC recertification upon full completion. Overview: With this seminar you will learn how to navigate FDA's legal requirements and its interpretations for enforcement purposes. The agency now applies the principles of cognitive psychology to aid in its determination of what a message really conveys. This becomes a new factor in trying to stay within FDA's legal corral. This conference will provide insight on how to manage your marketing activity and gauge what regulatory risks your business is willing to accept. You will learn how corporate management requires cooperation between marketing, regulatory affairs, legal counsel, manufacturing, engineering and finance departments. You will understand that a weak link in any department leaves the entire corporation vulnerable to FDA enforcement. Most importantly, you will understand the boundaries that FDA uses and how easy it is to cross them. With information from this course, you can step back and rationally evaluate your firm's regulatory profile for advertising and promotion. Why should you attend: If you go "off label" with advertising and promotion, you become embroiled in FDA's advertising and promotion requirements. For devices, the law is weak and lacks legal clarity. For drugs, FDA's law and regulations are extensive and have violated Constitutional protections. Depending on your point of FDA's promotion and advertising requirements can help you or hurt you? There is an inherent conflict in interests. In any case, you need to identify practical criteria to make marketing decisions. That begs the question of whether or not marketing managers and regulatory affairs managers will even try to agree on an issue. FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) has never issued a comprehensive guidance on advertising and promotion. You are on your own. CDER has esta

A Simple Test That Detects Early Symptoms Helpful In Respiratory Syncytial Virus Diagno... - 0 views

  •
Respiratory syncytial (sin-SISH-uhl) virus, or RSV, is a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms. In the U.S., RSV infections generally occur during fall, winter, and spring. Treatment for respiratory syncytial virus usually involves self-care steps to help make your child relaxed (supportive care) along with medication, if needed (acute care). But if severe symptoms appear, hospital treatment may also be necessary. Symptoms of the virus include, runny nose and cough, difficulty breathing, wheezing, fever, sore throat, headache, swelling of face and lips, and red spots on the mouth and tongue. Left untreated, your child's condition may develop into complicated pneumonia, acute congestive heart failure or sudden infant death. Respiratory syncytial virus diagnostics may include, a simple test that can detect early symptoms, so you can provide the appropriate treatment as soon as possible. If you have any symptoms of upper respiratory infection or strep throat, you should see your doctor. The doctor will test your upper respiratory infection or strep throat for viruses such as parainfluenza, rhizopenia and streptococcus. In some cases, your doctor will also order laboratory tests in order to get an accurate diagnosis. Chemicals & Materials: The Impact of Toxic Substances on Environment and Daily Life - 0 views

  •
Toxic chemicals & materials are making their way into everyday consumer products, homes, buildings, and even more. Some toxic chemicals have been phased-out of manufacturing in the United States, including asbestos, toxic dyes, and lead-based paint. If you have been exposed to hazardous chemicals in your home or workplace, or if you are concerned about the environmental impact of your product or service, contact a lawyer. A good lawyer will investigate the dangers of chemical and material use, provide information on legal remedies available to you, and provide you with recommendations for better, safer practices. The attorneys can also help you find a chemical testing laboratory that will test the levels of chemicals in your environment to determine whether they cause negative health issues. If you are concerned about how the toxic chemicals & materials have entered your environment, consider cleaning it up yourself. For example, if you're in a business where chemicals are used or stored, you may be able to clean up contaminated waste, which may be easier than hiring a cleanup company. If you are concerned about the environmental impact of a toxic chemical, contact your local EPA. They have specific programs that address concerns about chemical contaminants. These programs include the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Safe Handling of Hazardous Drugs and Biological Weapons Act. They all regulate the chemical and material use in our homes, businesses, and environment. Read more @ https://coherentmarketinsights-cmi.blogspot.com/2020/12/chemicals-materials-impact-of-toxic.html

Tougher Import Rules for FDA Imports in 2016- 2 day In person Seminar - 0 views

  •
Course "Tougher Import Rules for FDA Imports in 2016" has been pre-approved by RAPS as eligible for up to 12 credits towards a participant's RAC recertification upon full completion. Overview: FDA's and the Customs and Border Patrol Service (CBP) have become increasingly sophisticated and equally demanding in the submission of information and adherence to government procedures. Firm's that fail to understand and properly execute an import and export program find that their shipment is delayed, detained or refused. In 2016 entries must use the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) entry filing system or face entry refusals and monetary penalties up to $10,000 per offense. A number of other factors can derail the expectation of a seamless import process. The course covers detailed information about the roles and responsibilities of the various parties with an import operation and how to correct the weakest link(s) in the commercial chain. The course will include tips on how to understand FDA's thinking and offer anecdotal examples of FDA's import program curiosities. Why should you attend: What happens when your product is detained? FDA will begin a legal process that can become an expensive business debacle. You must respond fully within short timeframes. This is not the time for you to be on a learning curve. You need to have a plan in place and know what you are doing. The FDA is steadily increasing the legal and prior notice information requirements. If you do not know what those requirements are and you initiate a shipment, your product is figuratively dead in the water. You must be accurate with the import coding information and understand the automated and human review process. If not, you can expect detained shipments. CBP is implemented a new "Automated Commercial Environment" computer program that changes import logistics and information reporting for FDA regulated products. Your shipment may be stopped before it is even loaded at the foreign port. What

New HIPAA Rules - Meeting Requirements for New Patient Rights and New Restrictions on D... - 0 views

  •
Overview: New changes modifying the HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations are going into place to meet the privacy and security mandates within the HITECH Act in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The changes include establishing new rights for individuals as well as changes to the limitations on uses and disclosures. New requirements for patient access to records and requirements to notify individuals in the event of a breach are only two of the many areas affected in the new law, including new requirements for restriction and accounting of disclosures and increased enforcement activity. Covered entities that use electronic health records (EHRs) will need to meet new access and disclosure rules and all kinds of business associates and their subcontractors will need to establish compliance programs. And if you are required to have a HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices, you will need to update that to show all the new rights that patients will have, such as electronic copies, new rights to restrict disclosures, and much more. Business associates are now directly covered by the HIPAA privacy and security regulations and are liable for fines and penalties if they do not comply. If a business associate supplies services that interact with the new changes to the rules, the BA will need to be aware of the new requirements. We will explain what a Business Associate needs to do differently under the new regulations. Electronic records have new demands placed on them, in both providing access and in accounting for all disclosures of health information - the electronic age in health care brings new obligations to serve individuals as well as manage health information for healthcare professionals. We will discuss how disclosures must be tracked in an EHR and review the various ways patient records can be supplied electronically. The new regulations will be reviewed and their effects on usual practices will be discussed, as will what policies need to be chang

Clinical Documentation Improvement - 0 views

  •
Overview:   Review 6 points of high quality evidence based clinical documentation Review of 7 criteria that all entries in a patient record should include Impact of documentation on coding and claims Impact on audits and ability to defend an audit When an audit is initiated, the completeness of documentation becomes critical in the ability to support what you have reported. Let's take a look at areas in which weaknesses are often found.  Why should you Attend:  The granularity and accuracy of the ICD-10 code set is supported by quality clinical documentation. It is anticipated that payers will increasingly become less flexible in allowing non-specific codes. The use of unspecified codes will likely lead to rejected claims if it is possible to report the more definitive condition. In most cases, unspecified should not be reported unless there is clear evidence to support the inability to report the detailed option.  Is your E & M level supported in the documentation? If you have never experienced scrutiny of your billing patterns by payers and other entities, you may not be aware of weaknesses that lead to recovery of funds or other costly consequences. Your documentation will be key in supporting diagnoses, service codes and acuity of the patient. It is not just payers who engage in audits. Others include State medical boards, Qui Tam and possible reporting of questionable practices by patients. Do your billing patterns and documentation stand up under reporting scrutiny? This presentation will review areas in which you may not be as strong as you think!  Areas Covered in the Session: Significance of abnormal lab results Measurement of lesions, when taken and inclusion of margins Start & stop times & methodology for infusions & discrepancies in billing Diagnostic testing and medications should be supported in a diagnosis Depth of wounds and cause should be clear Severity of illness Diagnosis present on admission? The Role of Healthcare Facilitators in Medical Tourism - 0 views

  •
Medical tourism is growing by leaps and bounds as people realize the benefits of cost saving and the excellent treatment they receive in countries other than their own. People from the CIS, for instance, had to look to European countries like Germany, France, and the UK for treatment and in all these countries the treatment is expensive not to speak of stay and travel. Asian countries like India, Thailand and Sri Lanka are proving to be the better alternatives. The deterrent is how to find the best facility at the best cost and proceed. This is where a healthcare facilitator steps in and takes care of everything much to the relief of the patient and his family. The vital bridge Healthcare facilitators act as the vital bridge between the patient and the treatment facility that matches their needs. If you are in the US, UK, Australia, the CIS countries or in any African country and wish to find the best facility in India, for instance, the facilitator is the one to get in touch with. They maintain a database of hospitals and surgeons across the country, know their specialization and how much treatment can cost. Healthcare facilitators put you in touch with a medical institution that will give the best in terms of quality of treatment and cost. They do this by first going through your medical records and getting their panel of medical experts to match the ailment with a hospital. Patients get the benefit of expertise and save time and a great deal of money in the process. Patients receive invaluable assistance in: * Travel to the hospital * Scheduling appointments * Recommendations so that they receive personalized care * Supervision by the facilitator's own doctor to ensure that everything is being done right and, if not, patients may be switched to another hospital * Assistance with documentation and paperwork * Assistance with the procurement of medications * Negotiating the best rate with a discount for stay and treatment * Assistance to fam

Neurovascular Therapies and Their Advantages - 0 views

  •
There are a lot of neurovascular therapies which can help in the reduction of your stress levels, improve your overall health and boost your overall health and well-being. This includes spinal decompression, neurovascular vascular technologies and nerve stimulators, vascular therapies and neurovascular imaging. Recent reports from the U.S. National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine indicates that neurovascular therapy is being used more frequently than ever before in the past. The number of people opting for this treatment is increasing by two to three times annually. Currently, there is no better way to boost your brain's health and prevent neurological diseases than through neurovascular therapies. Rising need for minimally invasive surgical procedures, higher number of research studies in neurovascular technologies and rising expectation for minimally invasive surgery techniques will provide ample opportunities to the industry growth. In fact, studies suggest that the average cost of neurosurgery has decreased by around 40 percent, which has made it more affordable for more patients to undergo such treatment. Also, the increasing demand for medical devices has resulted in the rise of numerous new medical equipment manufacturers that have been able to offer lower costs as compared to other equipment providers. In the past, non-surgical methods of treatment were primarily limited to treatments using pacemakers or other devices. As the technology became available, the field of neurosurgery expanded and a large number of non-surgical options such as spinal surgery were introduced. Nowadays, spinal surgery is only one of the available neurovascular treatments but is fast catching up. With so many benefits, it is no wonder that the neurosurgeon industry has increased its revenue by more than five times since 1980. High Prevalence of Chronic Disorders to Augment Growth of the Global Nurse Call Systems... - 0 views

  •
Nurse call system makes an all-in one solution for both your nurse call needs as well as wireless nurse phone calls. These systems have been some of the best in the market these days in that they can incorporate any old piece of hospital equipment into a single unified call center system. With an integrated system, you can now use your pager, digital radio, or even your cell phone to dial in, and you can get live access to your nurses through a large LCD screen. Nurses can use this system at the reception desk or even while on the job. For those who wish to be constantly on the go, the system also features an LCD screen with a large touch pad that makes it easy to navigate and input data. A digital radio, headset, and other necessary hardware are all included in the package for the best experience possible. There are many options to choose from in this type of system, depending on how much you want to spend. The biggest thing to consider is how much you need and whether you want a more basic system, or a more advanced system like a fully integrated one. Each system comes with a long warranty, so if ever there was a time when you needed a system to replace, you are covered. High prevalence of chronic disorders is expected to propel growth of the global nurse call systems market. For instance, according to the study, "Global and regional diabetes prevalence estimates for 2019 and projections for 2030 and 2045: Results from the International Diabetes Federation Diabetes Atlas, 9th edition", published in the journal Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice, in September 2019, 463 million people are expected to suffer from diabetes in 2019 worldwide and the number is expected to reach 578 million by 2030 and 700 million by 2045. OIG CIAs: What Do They Mean To Your Compliance Program? - 0 views

  •
Overview: Learn how to improve your healthcare compliance program by using requirements found in corporate integrity agreements (CIAs) issued by the OIG. By proactively incorporating various features of CIAs, healthcare providers of all types can be better assured of meeting compliance standards. While there are many different types of healthcare compliance issues, probably the area of most concern is that of properly filing claims and receiving appropriate reimbursement. The OIG has issued various types of guidance including Federal Register entries, fraud alerts, and issues as listed in the OIG Work Plans. By providing such guidance, the OIG has given healthcare providers notice so that there can be no defense of not knowing about an issue. By organizing your compliance program to detect and then correcting various types of issues is a major objective of having a compliance program. Understanding systematic processes for improving your healthcare compliance program using CIA requirements can forestall possible criminal and civil monetary penalties. The hundreds of CIAs that have been developed when the OIG detects fraudulent activities can be used as a guide for developing and improving healthcare compliance programs for all types of healthcare providers. The process of statistical extrapolation is used by the OIG when conducting studies in order to determine recoupment amounts. Statistical extrapolation can also be used by healthcare providers when determining possible overpayments. However, the proper use of statistical extrapolation is a formal and complex mathematical process that must be properly applied. The OIG CIAs provide another resource for healthcare providers to study, understand, and then apply as appropriate. Why should you Attend: What are the OIG Corporate Integrity Agreements (CIAs)? Why does the OIG issue CIAs? Can I use general requirements from CIA to avoid monetary penalties or even avoid going to jail? Can any healthcare provider use
