GPhC set power define roles superintendent, chief pharmacists - 0 views

  •
New legislative orders approved by the Privy Council will give the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (PSNI) powers to set professional standards for Responsible Pharmacists, Superintendent Pharmacists and Chief Pharmacists. The Pharmacy (Preparation and Dispensing Errors - Hospital (and Other Pharmacy Services) Order 2022 and the Pharmacy (Responsible Pharmacists, Superintendent Pharmacists etc.) Order 2022 have been published and are expected to come into force in December 2022. Trevor Patterson, Chief Executive of the Pharmaceutical Society NI said: "We have been working with our colleagues in the GPhC and Government for some time on these two pieces of important legislation and we are delighted they have now reached the statute books. "Both Orders enable and enhance the powers we, and the GPhC, have to define the roles and responsibilities of Responsible, Superintendent and Chief Pharmacists, respectively. They also create protections against criminal prosecution for hospital pharmacists where an inadvertent error is made either in dispensing or assembly, in certain defined circumstances, similar to the protections available to colleagues working in community/registered pharmacy settings. Provisions that allow the appointment of a Deputy Registrar for our organisation will also be introduced.

Folding Ultralight Wheelchairs - 0 views

  •
Ultra Lightweight Wheelchair Folding Ultralight Wheelchairs is one of the lightest of all manual wheelchairs, compact size, easy to carry with its foldable nature. Folding Ultralight Wheelchair is ideal for both outdoor and indoor usage, and mostly used while travelling. Ultra Lightweight Wheelchair are quite similar to the lightweight wheelchairs but offer more adjustability for even more fine tuning to the user's needs. They are more expensive than the ultralight models but are basically ordered the same way with similar options. The difference is really most noticeable after delivery when all the adjustments become evident while setting the chair up. They are designed for users who are going to be using the chair daily for most of their mobility needs and spend many hours a day in the wheelchair but also lead a more active lifestyle and are looking for a little better performance. Seat Widths and Depths Most models of wheelchair in the ultralight folding category offer standard sizes from 12" to 20" in 1" increments a some will even allow for custom orders for in between sizes of seat width. Seat Heights Seat to floor heights of this category can be anywhere from 14" to 22" and will often be up to 2" lower at the back of the seat to create what is known as "dump". Armrests Armrests on ultralight folding wheelchairs, depending on the model, can be exactly the same as the lightweight wheelchair category or be simple padded tubes which will swing away or be taken off when not required. Many users of this category of wheelchair don't use arms at all and any arm chosen when ordering will incur an upcharge. Footrests Ultralight wheelchairs will have a few options for footrests. They normally come in 70° and 60° angles for adults and chairs that are sized for children will also have the option of 90°. The less the leg length or the higher one wants their feet from the ground the lower the angle should be. Steeper angles (70° and 9

GPhC removes pharmacy technician over indecent photographs - 0 views

  •
The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Fitness to Practise Committee has removed a pharmacy technician from Register after been found guilty of possessing 'indecent photographs of a child'. Graeme Arthur, a pharmacy technician first registered with GPhC on 1 September 2019, under the registration number 5039154, was found guilty at Peterlee Magistrate's Court in August 2022. He received an 18-month Community Order, and is subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 5 years, He was also ordered to undertake a period of rehabilitation activity for 40 days. In the remote video linking hearing held on 2 - 3 May, the Fitness to Practise Committee found Arthur's fitness to practise to be currently impaired on grounds of protection of the public and in the wider public interest of declaring and upholding the Standards of the profession and maintaining public confidence in the reputation of the profession. The committee considers this to be a serious conviction for an offence which has included possession of the most serious category of images of sexual abuse of children. It said: "Although Mr Arthur had no direct contact with the children concerned, the nature of the abuse is that it thrives on the demand from those who search for and view the images online. As such, children come to actual harm indirectly through the activity of someone viewing and possession of images of sexual abuse."

According to police an internal investigation launched at the pharmacy branch in July 2018 revealed that more than 22,000 test kits had been ordered since January 2017. Order Repeat Prescriptions Early to Avoid Medication Shortages - 0 views

  •
People are advised to be prepared and order their repeat prescriptions in time so that they don't run out of their routine medicines over the Christmas and New Year break when services are likely to be busier than normal. As GP practices will be closed over the bank holidays and only some pharmacies will remain open, local NHS leaders have urged patients to plan ahead to avoid making last-minute requests for collecting repeat prescriptions, which can add avoidable pressure for doctors, pharmacies, and other NHS services. Sati Ubhi, Chief Pharmacist at NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, have cautioned patients that running out of their usual medication can have serious consequences. "By ordering medicines as soon as possible, it allows enough time for it to be processed and dispensed and helps avoid a last-minute rush," she told Fenland Citizen.

Wheelchair : Handicap Products: Lightweight Ergonomic Wheelchair Is Ideal For Traveling - 0 views

  •
A lightweight Ergonomic wheelchair weighs as little as 30 lbs, and it can fold down to the size of a golf bag. If you go for a vacation or a trip, or just go shopping or visit the doctor, it is an ideal solution for occasional wheelchair users. It folds easily and can be stored in very little space. All lightweight folding wheelchairs are ergonomically designed for comfort and crash tested for safety and durability. They are technically advanced and performance-oriented. Modern technology has helped to make mans existence on Earth a lot more convenient and comfortable letting him do things that help in manipulating the environment in a way that allows everyone to achieve their goals despite facing health and lifestyle related problems. Among the many technological achievements to cheer about one that is known as the motorized wheelchair lift is sure to provide a lot of cheer to every disabled person. No doubt, owning a motorized wheelchair lift can prove to be a costly business; but, it does help do away with needing to use muscle power in order to move about on a wheelchair and in the end the price that you end up paying will prove to be good value for money. The lightweight Karma Ergo Lite 2501 Wheelchair cannot be designed to fit the user as in the rigid frame wheelchairs. It has to fold into a compact shape; hence its ability to fit or adjust is greatly reduced. Therefore it does not offer high comfort benefits, but its main ability to quickly fold and store in the trunk of a car makes it popular among older users who are not traveling too often. The folding wheelchair ramp with it can easily be taken on trips and vacations and used in places, where there are no special arrangements for wheelchair users. Another consideration to buying a motorized wheelchair is that it is not a device that folds up when not in use and this means needing to have enough storage space and even buying a van in order to transport the motorized wheelchair with you when you t

  •
If you are one of the unlucky few who require serious knee surgery, you will likely want to do everything possible to ensure a successful recovery. Knee surgeries can be difficult and frustrating, but with the right attitude and approach, you can make the process much easier on yourself. In this blog post, we will discuss six tips for recovering from serious knee surgery. Follow these tips and you will be on your way to a successful recovery! 1) FOLLOW YOUR DOCTOR'S ORDERS This may seem like an obvious tip, but it is important to follow your doctor's orders after knee surgery. Your doctor knows what is best for you and your recovery, so make sure to listen to their advice. Also, you can find useful information on the St Vincent's Private Hospitals website regarding your specific type of surgery. It is important to get well informed about your surgery so that you can be prepared for the recovery process. For example, if you are having a partial knee replacement, you will want to know what activities you should avoid during your recovery. Or, if you are having a full knee replacement, you will want to know what kind of rehabilitation exercises you should be doing. 2) GET PLENTY OF REST Your body needs time to heal after surgery, so make sure to get plenty of rest. This doesn't mean that you have to stay in bed all day, but you should avoid any strenuous activity. Take naps when you feel tired and give your body the time it needs to recover.

10.5 M LFD Test Kits : UKSHA Plans To Distribute It Per Week - 0 views

  •
As an unprecedented demand for Lateral Flow Device (LFD) test kits continues through the Pharmacy Collect service, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is planning to distribute 10.5 million tests per week via Alliance Healthcare this month. By the end of this week (January 8), the UKHSA aims to distribute more than 8 million tests to Alliance Healthcare - sole distributor to pharmacies. The announcement comes after many in the pharmacy sector voiced concerns over shortage of test kits. Earlier this week, it emerged that Alliance Healthcare closed for four days shortly after receiving around 2.5 million tests on Christmas Eve. Meanwhile, the UKHSA indicated that Alliance Healthcare has been delivering 86 per cent of its orders within 24 hours of the pharmacy order, nearly half of that on the same day. Besides, a plan to switch on a Parcel Force delivery contingency is being finalised by UKHSA, which would enable supply of a further 3.5 million test kits.
