Manual wheelchair has two types: one with a collapsible frame and the other with a frame that is rigid. The one with a collapsible frame is called the folding wheelchair and it is easier to transport and store than the rigid-framed wheelchair. Because it has reinforcing struts as well as folding and locking mechanisms, the first is relatively heavier than the second. A car can be used to transport a folding wheelchair. It can be placed in the car's trunk instead of having to provide for special moving arrangements or use a bigger vehicle such as a van. The wheelchair that folds usually has an x-frame that makes it possible to fold it sideways. When not in use, it can be kept in a small area of space. When navigating on an uneven surface, the four wheels of the folding wheelchair remain on the ground because its flexible frame of the chair yields and bends to make up for the unevenness of the terrain. This makes it more stable on the uneven surface than the rigid framed chair. On the other hand, it is less stable on a hard floor surface. While making it easy to fold and transport the chair, the parts of the folding chair that can be removed and adjusted can get lost or worn down more easily. The requirement for more frequent repair and replacement of these parts makes the chair that can be folded more expensive to maintain. The wheelchair with a rigid frame can be kept in good condition more economically. The moving parts of the folding wheelchair make the chair's frame more flexible. This flexibility absorbs a significant portion of the force exerted to propel the chair. Thus, it is harder to control and push. Its relatively heavier weight adds to this difficulty, requiring more effort, as well as greater strength and dexterity, to propel and maneuver the wheelchair when compared to the rigid wheelchair. The NHS England and Improvement has announced the emergency provisions introduced during pandemic to provide flexible opening hours for pharmacy contractors end today. The flexibilities were enacted in March 2020 when changes to the Pharmaceutical Services (Advanced and Enhanced Services and Emergency Declaration) Directions 2020 were made following a declaration of emergency at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Since March 2020, the flexibilities have permitted temporary opening hours and closures during a specified period due to a genuine Covid-19 related emergency. NHS England and Improvement has advised pharmacy contractors that the emergency declaration will not be extended further and will expire on 31 March 2022. Pharmacy contractors will therefore no longer have the option to close pharmacies within their agreed contracted hours with the NHS.

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) has launched a new campaign to help parents and carers in pharmacy get the support they need in the workplace as part of its inclusion and diversity work. Integration of primary and community care is key to health service improvement - Lords Committee has said in a new report published on 15 December. The report highlighted the need for better staff training, improved data-sharing, flexible healthcare structures and collaboration across different professions in the healthcare system to support more integrated care. Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) England has welcomed the report, and highlighted the important role pharmacy teams can play in improving patient care. Tase Oputu, Chair of RPS England Pharmacy Board, said: "Pharmacists and pharmacy teams play a vital role in supporting more integrated care, working with multidisciplinary teams across the health service.

Recognising the changing practices in healthcare, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) has revised and updated its position on the separation of prescribing and dispensing or administration of a medicine by the same healthcare professional. It's previous guidance, published in March 2020, restricted prescribing and dispensing by the same healthcare professional only in exceptional circumstances. The new guidance, jointly developed with the Royal College of Nursing (RCN), has made prescribing and dispensing of medicines more flexible. It clarifies that "where there is a risk assessment in place and in the best interests of the patient, the same healthcare professional can be responsible for the prescribing and dispensing / supply / administration of medicines." The change in the position statement follows an extensive year-long engagement exercise with medical associations, members, fellows, expert advisory groups, patient groups and the RPS Country Boards.
