Medical coding has a great share in ensuring the quality of medical claims. The more accurately claims are compiled, the easier it is to timely send them to the payers and get reimbursements.
CMS proposed changes for ACO participation in SSP in compliance with QPP MIPS for MVPs. These changes are expected to be effective from next year 2021.
It is important to adapt changes to grow and compete with the world. Healthcare organizations should also move forward with technology and expertise to be part of a progressive healthcare system. Read more about why change is important and how physicians should upgrade their revenue cycle.
Medical billing and coding have undergone various changes. At first, the payment transaction methods were not clear. Then from the late eighties to until a decade ago, billers and coders had to write down every single detail manually on papers. The information collected was cipher into the designated codes or electronic codes to be stored in the hospital's database.
If there is a difference in numbers on documents and accounts, you need to review and check for discrepancies in the revenue cycle management, especially the accounts receivable. Avoid the following four major pitfalls and generate revenue consistently.
The window for MIPS 2019 performance score review is closed now. Now, eligible physicians must focus on MIPS 2020 data submission and enjoy flexibilities amidst COVID to compensate for the lost revenue.
Medicare saved around $650 million over 4 years with the new Medicare Prior Authorization Model for Repetitive, Scheduled Non-Emergent Ambulance Transport (RSNAT).
Medical billing services for cardiologists are already complex, and to accommodate changing billing requirements, we should be aware of the updates to maximize revenue.

Omnicell Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Omnicell - an American healthcare technology company, has signed an agreement with the shareholders of Hub and Spoke Innovations Limited to acquire Hub and Spoke Innovations.
Hub and Spoke Innovations Limited is distributor of the Pharmaself24 prescription collection kiosk in Great Britain.
The move will complement Omnicell's total solution technology portfolio for retail pharmacy in the UK, including a pack-pick dispensing robot, automated MDS filling
machine and eMAR solution, thereby helping pharmacies to improve workflows and offer a 24/7 access to medications and patient care.
It will also help community pharmacies achieve their goals, as they increasingly look at ways to make their businesses more efficient and free up staff to offer more pharmaceutical care and services to patients.
In short, the deal would enable Omnicell to offer a wider range of digital technologies to streamline retail pharmacy operations, allowing pharmacists to spend more time with patients and focus on value-added, revenue-generating healthcare services, such as vaccinations.
Nearly half of Type 1 diabetes patients in the NHS England are benefiting from the use of flash monitors that allow them to check their glucose levels more easily and regularly.
The wearable gadget, linked with a phone app, has a sensor that attaches to the back of the arm, allowing patients to check their glucose with a simple one-second scan.
Eligible patients can access the monitors on prescription from their local GP or diabetes team.
The NHS is ahead of target to roll-out the monitors, as the independent health advisory NICE, confirmed it was beginning the consultation to expand the kit's access.
As per recent data, around 125,000 patients now uses these monitors to help control their condition. The latest number shows that the NHS significantly exceeded its
user target with more than 45 per cent of patients using the monitor.
MIPS has elevated the way Medicare part B providers get compensated. Each category, including Promoting Interoperability, has specific measures and guidelines that need to be fulfilled for MIPS 2021 reporting.
HubRx has appointed Dr Sarah Passmore as superintendent pharmacist ahead of launching what the company called "the UK's first state-of-the-art automated pharmacy
hub".
Dr Passmore brings more than 20 years of pharmacy experience - having held key regulatory roles with Rowlands Pharmacy over a 11-year tenure, which also saw her
involved in a number of pharmacy automation projects.
Commenting on her appointment, Dr Passmore said: "As a pharmacist, who has spent more than 10 years working within community pharmacy, I'm excited by what a hub and
spoke model for prescription dispensing can bring.
"Pharmacists are highly trained in delivering clinical services to patients - and like me - it's often a part of their job that they thoroughly enjoy. The option of
using hub and spoke to support dispensing prescriptions will give community pharmacists the gift of more time that can be spent helping patients.
"I'm excited to join HubRx and for it to become the first state-of-the-art automated pharmacy hub designed for independent community pharmacists to launch in the UK."
Community pharmacists are readily accessible healthcare providers and medicine experts in the community setting and their counsel is often sought by patients
and consumers on a number of subjects including the use of dietary supplements. Their role in the sale of and advice regarding natural health and drug alternatives
has never been more relevant.
The recent National Health Service (NHS) Interim People Plan calls for the NHS to put all staff front and centre of the way it operates and identifies pharmacists
as a critical part of multidisciplinary teams, providing care across a wide range of increasingly complex patient needs.
Despite existing demand to counsel patients on a vast range of medicines, more and more consumers are looking to their pharmacist to support and enhance their
knowledge regarding the relevance of a growing range of supplementary nutrients now available.
Nutritional supplementation is increasingly becoming the consumer's first choice for 'drug free' treatment or natural prevention that provides a true sense of
taking control, which the prescription process often denies them.
Historically the immense benefits provided by the NHS have instilled a general abdication of our personal health control, leaving us to rely on the health service
to treat and cure as necessary.
As our NHS has become visibly over-stretched we begin to realise what the rest of the world has known for centuries - good health is based primarily upon nutritional
robustness. It may be stating the obvious but there is an excellent source of incremental revenue for the pharmacist who is willing to provide space to and advice
for nutritional supplements.
Thanks to the NHS primary care access recovery plan, more than 23 million people can now view test results and check their consultation notes online without
needing to contact their GP practice.
NHS England on Monday (4 December) announced that over 81 GP practices in England (more than four in five) are now giving patients access to their new health
records online through the NHS App.
In May, the NHS announced the primary care access recovery plan setting a target of 9 in 10 GP practices offering patients access to their records through the
NHS App by March 2024.
By making access to healthcare easier and quicker, the NHSE also aims to free up to 10 million GP appointments a year by next winter.

The vast and growing depository of information on the internet is certainly fuelling this, but as much of this is brand derived content, information, it can often be generic with a 'one size fits all' marketing message.
