How This Influenced My Thinking: Informed me more about the serious and grave nature of obesity and it's affect upon the health of the individual; alerted of the growing presence of obesity in our country. Morris Date Published: 2008 Why Relevant and Summary: Does a nice job in explaining autism, Asperger's, and related disorders. It identifies means for classification and diagnosis, associated characteristics and tendencies; what to expect from someone with one of these diseases. How This Influenced My Thinking: Educated me about autism, Asperger's, and related disorders... helped me to see from another perspective life with this kind of disorder. Credibility of Source: Pretty credible and valuable.

How This Influenced My Thinking: It enhanced my knowledge and perception of ADHD and those who have ADHD... allowed me to relate it to my experience of having a sister with ADHD. How This Influenced My Thinking: Gave me some tips that are practicable and will be useable if I were to have children, or when interacting with children of that age. Also contrasts and explains dishabituation. How This Influenced My Thinking: It encouraged me to think of experiences in my own life where I've habituated to a certain stimulus and maybe why I habituated to it. Credibility of Source: Unsure of credibility; made several outside references and cited correctly.

Why Relevant and Summary: This covers the basics of what temperament is, and how to tell what temperament a child might fall under. It describes the different traits of temperament and how to react to them. How this Influenced my Thinking: I wasn't aware of how many various traits a child can have that can determine their temperament, i generally believed you either had a well-behaved child, or a fussy child. This gives more dimension to temperament and shows how there are varying levels to a temperament as well. Credibility of Source: Has references; linked to Ohio State University; somewhat dated information, but information that is still relevant.

Title: Author: Yamini Durani Date Published: October, 2011 Why Relevant and Summary: Explains reasons for cosleeping, how it is safe, addresses SIDS, how to safely cosleep, and how to help your child make the transition from cosleeping to sleeping on its own. How This Influenced My Thinking: I was never aware of cosleeping, at least to the extent with which it can occur. I was educated on the risks of cosleeping, which I never knew were possible. I was also introduced to SIDs. Credibility of Source: Source written by a doctor.

Provides each cultures beliefs and history of beliefs regarding childbirth and customs for it. How This Influenced My Thinking: Informed me of other perceptions and views of childbirth--things I was unaware of; I was not familiar with any other views of childbirth but that of the U.S.'s. Credibility of Source: Unsure of credibility.

This is relevant because it explains prenatal care. How this Influenced my thinking: It coincided with what i already knew about prenatal care. i learned however that women should take folic acid even if unsure if they are pregnant, or if they are planning on getting pregnant Credibility of Source:part of U.S. department of health, women's health department.

It gives you tips and advice for prenatal development. It also gives you defenitions and good facts. How This Influenced My Thinking: This allowed me to see more of the preganancy side than anything else. I managed to read through it and find out that there are a lot of things you need to do while pregnant. Credibility: It came from Womenshealth.org, and a doctor wrote this, so I assume that it is very credible.

How This Influenced My Thinking: Provided important tips with which to keep in mind later on in life if this particular things will affect me. Title:Nature Nurture in Psychology Author: Saul Mcleod Date Published: 2007 Why Relevant and Summary: This article gives a great description of the two opposing sides of the nature-nurture debate. The author gives many examples for each side and how nature and nurture work together. How This Influenced My Thinking: It really opened my mind to seeing both sides of the debate. Credibility of Source: This article was posted to a psychology website and contained a great number of references, I see this as a very credible source.

Addressed the different approaches to psychology and its affect on human development. How This Influenced My Thinking: It reinforced some ideas I've had about the way I was raised and the reasons I am the way I am currently. The elderly begin to withdraw from activities they love because of an illness, for example. Little by little, they lose their independence and remove themselves from social networks. How this influenced my thinking:It's is sad to think that some elderly will withdraw themselves from society when they lose independence. It is important that as family, we keep in touch with our elderly family members and keep them as close to society as possible. Whether it be taking them to the park, grocery store, or just talking to them on a daily basis. Credibility of source: Seems credible. It includes all its sources.

How this influenced my thinking:It's amazing to see how much the Japanese respect their elders and ancestors. They hold great knowledge which is necessary to pass on to the next generations. Author: Cecilia Kirkpatrick Date Published: 2007 Why Relevant and Summary: In this newspaper article Cecilia talks about the changes a woman undergoes as she ages. This is perfect for my paper since it tells me exactly what I need to know. She goes from physical changes all the way to the changes on the inside of the body and mentally as well. How This Influenced My Thinking: This just enlightened me on all the changes that I am eventually going to go through as I age. Credibility of Source: It is a newspaper article with an author and date and information seems accurate as it complements our textbook.

It gives statistics of teenage pregnancies, sexual intercourse, marriage. How it affected my thinking: These statistics blew me away. I honestly though there were not that many teenagers having sex at an early age, I thought many teenagers had their first intercourse when they were at least 17 years old, but according to the statistics there are teenagers whom are having intercourse at the young age of 12 and 3. Credibility: seems credible since its from a teen website.
