Dandenong South factory roof generates power and interest | Herald Sun - 0 views

  •
"A    DANDENONG South steel manufacturer's rooftop is attracting international attention. Hilton Manufacturing recently switched on the largest array of sun-tracking solar panels on a factory roof in the southern hemisphere. This month the site will host delegations from Taiwan and India, keen to learn more about the technology. Project manager Jacques Esper said the business would draw about 25 per cent of its power from the 340 solar panels arranged on top of the 15,000sq m factory, which had become a showpiece."

"Powerwall is a home battery that charges using electricity generated from solar panels, or when utility rates are low, and powers your home in the evening. It also fortifies your home against power outages by providing a backup electricity supply. Automated, compact and simple to install, Powerwall offers independence from the utility grid and the security of an emergency backup."

Australian Photovoltaic Institute * Mapping Australian Photovoltaic PV installations - 0 views

  •
"These maps are based on data from the Clean Energy Regulator, the Australian Government agency tasked with the administration of the Renewable Energy Target. For each postcode and local government area, the map shows the estimated percentage of dwellings that have a PV system and the total photovoltaic capacity installed. Most of the PV systems in Australia are small-scale rooftop installations; however there are a number of larger-scale PV power stations with a capacity of more than 100 kW. These power stations are indicated by individual markers. Live performance data is available for systems in the Desert Knowledge Precinct in Alice Springs, and at the University of Queensland."

Solar powered air conditioning - YouTube - 1 views

  •
"CSIRO has invented a new three in one solar air conditioning system that provides hot water, cooling and heating. It works by using heat from the sun and employs both desiccant and evaporative cooling technologies. See how the technology can work in the home."

A renewable-powered future will need energy storage - 0 views

  •
"The way we generate, transfer and use energy is changing, and our energy systems and infrastructure have come under increasing pressure to cope. Black-outs strike where we would expect reliable supplies, energy costs are rising, pushed up by fossil fuel prices and the expense of renewing ageing electricity infrastructure. As the proportion of energy generated from renewables like wind, wave and solar power rises, part of the solution to such intermittently generated energy is technology that can store the energy until it is needed."
