This special recognition will be presented to the winner of the Artist of the Year award at the 2012 All Indie Music Awards that will take place in February of 2012 at an undisclosed location in Los Angeles. The host and creator of The Great Unknowns Presents and All Indie Magazine, Mikey Jayy, will pay a special tribute to the legend that will kick off the live event in honor of his accomplishments during the 1950's. Freed will be honored not only as a radio disc-jockey and promoter of Rhythm and Blues, but as the "father of Rock and Roll". Alan Freed was the pioneer of independent music and helped pave the way for future music artists. Freed helped bridge the gap between African-American music and mainstream music, which was predominately all white artists. The 2012 All Indie Music Awards will be a two-and-a-half hour show dedicated to music genres in multiple categories represented around the world to give recognition with a prestige music award. If you like Ne Yo Drake, Jay-Z, and Kanye West, then you have to listen to the featured artist of the week with Devon Michael. The best part about Devon Michael is his originality. You get more than one speed of music from this album. It travels from great driving music, to the dance floor, to the street, and to the bedroom. It is impossible to get bored with this album, because there's is no one constant. It makes the listener wonder what the next song will bring. If you enjoy R&B and Hip Hop, you get the best of both worlds and it's impossible to just listen to once, in fact, you get hooked. This is an article about Slint, a relatively unknown band from Louisville, Kentucky that has survived as a cult favorite even though they only released a pair of albums and a single containing less than twenty songs over twenty years ago. The thought that such a thing could happen and that a band could exist as an icon despite such little output is the impetus behind this article.

Vogue In The Movement is a catchy Pop Indie Rock band from Bakersfield, CA. They released their first EP in 2008 and they ve generated nearly 2 million hits in little over one year. Their music may be a little trendy and commerical, but their fun. If you like Fall Out Boy or Green Day, you will dig VITM.

The artist spotlight this week is an Indie band from Louisville, KY. They are currently with label Doghouse records, and they are still fairly new in the music industry. I chose to preview Mansions, because they are an awesome band and deserves recognition.

Nikki Forova is a Pop singer/songwriter that compares to the likes of Vanessa Carlton, Tori Amos, and Michelle Branch. In October of 2010, Nikki entered and won the MTV Duets contest out of thousands of entries. After a private visit from a representative of MTV, Nikki was flown out to New York for a rare opportunity engagement to perform the song, "A Thousand Miles" with Vanessa Carlton herself and was aired on the MTV television show, "MTV Duets".
