Freed will be honored not only as a radio disc-jockey and promoter of Rhythm and Blues, but as the "father of Rock and Roll". Alan Freed was the pioneer of independent music and helped pave the way for future music artists. Freed helped bridge the gap between African-American music and mainstream music, which was predominately all white artists.
