This set contains images that we have shared with ABC Innovation's Sydney Sidetracks project.

A collection of photos from cemeteries located in St. Augustine and St. Johns County, Florida. This collection complements the articles posted at the Graveyard Rabbit of Moultrie Creek site located at rabbit.moultriecreek.us which supports cemetery research in this area.

These images, selected from the State Library and Archives of Florida's Photographic Collection, date from 1896 to 2005, showing the devastation, tragedy, and triumphs of spirit the state has experienced after enduring so many storms. More than 450 recorded tropical storms and hurricanes have reached Florida's shores since European exploration began.

The photographs taken for pre-production of The Yearling document two significant aspects of Florida culture: the state's role in American film and the folklife of Florida "Crackers." The production company extensively documented existing farms in the area, preserving a glimpse of life in Florida before electricity and mechanized farming, before the development boom that accompanied interstate highways, theme parks, and urban sprawl in post-World War II central Florida.

Included here are excerpts of films from the State Archives of Florida's film and video collection. The collection contains approximately 7,000 movies and video tapes. Short clips from some of these moving images have been placed on Flickr Commons.

This set is a selection of images representing the work of the Florida Folklife Program. Created by Florida folklorists, the Florida Folklife Collection of the State Library and Archives of Florida consists of 88 individual series that document the performances by, interviews with, and fieldwork surveys of folk musicians, artisans, storytellers, folklife interpreters, and other Florida peoples and their traditions.

The series contains publicity photographs, including prints, negatives, slides, and transparencies, produced by the Division of Tourism and its predecessor agencies, the Florida Development Commission and the Florida State Advertising Commission. The collection includes tens of thousands of images of Florida people, places, and events dating from the 1940s through 1996.

These images reflect the lives of Florida's Seminole Indians and the missionary activities of Deaconess Harriet Bedell among them. The photographs include group portraits of Seminole men, women, and children, as well as images of the Seminoles engaged in a variety of daily work and recreational activities.

Glass lantern slides created by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection depicting a variety of Florida's natural features, including scenes of rivers and river banks, forests, nature trails, fishing, sand dunes, and swimming. Most have no further identification.

This collection consists of the surviving glass negatives of noted portrait photographer Alvan S. Harper. The collection includes about 200 portraits of Philadelphia people, some identified; about 100 views of Tallahassee buildings and street scenes, along with a few from Monticello, Quincy, St. Marks, and Panacea; and about 1,300 portraits of groups and individual men, women, and children, mostly unidentified. Especially noteworthy are Harper's portraits of middle class African-Americans.

This series consists of photographic negatives taken by the Brown family of Eastpoint, Florida, circa 1898 to 1912. The photographs depict members of the Brown family and other early settlers of Eastpoint; scenery and buildings of Eastpoint, Apalachicola, and St. George Island; ships and boats in the Apalachee and Apalachicola Bays; local schools; and farm workers.

London has the pleasure of being host to the \'Magnificent Seven\' Victorian Cemeteries. They were sprawling, landscaped areas designed for the Victorians to meander around and view the dead. This pool is not only dedicated to the Magnificent Seven (listed below) but to other cemeteries also that had \'delusions of grandeur\' and ached to be part of that group.
