Since so many folks were interested in this topic after it was brought up at our first workshop - thought it might be interesting to follow.

PlaNYC 2030 - a cool future plan for NYC. Of note for my interest is the chapter on Parks and Public Space, but others may find other chapters of interest, especially in terms of how they envision the city 15 years into the future.

Normally don't pay too much attention to these "contests" or these polls, but this it was interesting to think about how museums play a role in the community life in these states.......

Interesting piece on urbanism, the "creative class," and class and economics in general.  Where to do museums fit into this "hip cool"? Burning money trying to become "cooler" ends up looking something like the metropolitan equivalent to a midlife crisis.

This has gotten lots o' buzz... w/ his intellectual enemy Joel Kotkin (?) stirring the fire... I look at museums as needing this creative class to drive buzz -and innovative efforts.... these are the 'First Friday' night party people...

It's good to see where people are putting their money. I thought it was particularly interesting to see how important brand loyalty is to the public.

I sometimes wonder if museums might create a separate entrance for 'third place' side experiences... is there a way to take some less valuable square footage - and turn it into something unique... and build some buzz around the experience
