Pirating is illegal, sure. But that's not what bothers me here..
What bugs me is the severe lack of evidence that is going to be used to strong-arm people into paying fines. As others have pointed out here.. IP spoofing is easy, stealing somebody else's wireless is just as easy.. an IP address is -not- enough to convict somebody of anything. Now, if they have other -proof- that these people stole something, fine.. but it doesn't seem that they do.
This is another case of a large company using its resources to extort money from people who can't possibly defend themselves against their army of lawyers.
Do I think people should get away with theft? no.. but I do believe that we should have the same standard of proof required to punish them for it as they would get in any other case.
