Newsvine - Doctor claims he has evidence of the afterlife - 0 views

  •
"The near-death experience story is so common that it has become a bit of a cliché: A medical patient, hanging in a murky limbo between life and death, is drawn through a tunnel of bright light, meets their maker, and is told they must return to the land of living."

Overheard: Steve Jobs Says Apple Tablet "Will Be The Most Important Thing I've Ever Done." - 0 views

  •
""This will be the most important thing I've ever done" - Steve Jobs, referring to the soon-to-be-launched Apple Tablet. We haven't heard this first hand, but we've heard it multiple times second and third hand from completely independent sources. Senior Apple execs and friends of Jobs are telling people that he's about as excited about the upcoming Apple Tablet as he's ever been. Coming from the man who has created so much, that's saying something. If Steve Jobs thinks the iPhone was just a warm up act to this device, I can't wait to see what it can do. As if our expectations weren't already set high enough. We'll all know a lot more this Wednesday."

Calculating The 'Number of the Beast"-Easier Than Previously Thought « The Ug... - 0 views

  • “The beast that you saw was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is” AT the time in 70 AD, Israel WAS, and WAS NOT NOW, but will come again…Many deluded think it was ROME, but at 70 AD, rome was alive and well. There is only one country int he world that fits this, and it is that shitty little country that ascended out of the bottomless pit. Also note, that 666 is about WORSHIP.

White House Toughens Tone After Difficult Week - WSJ.com - 0 views

  •
"Coming off one of the most difficult weeks of his presidency, Barack Obama has beefed up his political staff and is expected to deliver an uncompromising State of the Union address. But aides said Sunday that the White House wasn't making any abrupt policy shifts, even as the message was retooled to focus more sharply on job creation. If anything, an unfinished agenda from 2009 will grow larger as, in addition to tackling health care and unemployment, the president presses for a bipartisan commission to tackle the budget deficit against resistance from Republicans. White House officials said Obama campaign manager David Plouffe will be brought on as a political consultant as the White House gears up for the midterm elections. The president's party is facing a stiff headwind from an electorate angry about high unemployment and what they see as ineffectual government, White House officials say. Republican Scott Brown's victory for the Massachusetts Senate seat Tuesday was a first shot in what Democrats worry will be hard-fought contests in November. "People are working harder," White House senior adviser David Axelrod said Sunday on ABC's "This Week," referring to the economy. "If they have a job, they're working harder for less. They're falling behind. That's been true for a decade. They look at a wave of irresponsibility from Wall Street to Washington that led to that. And those were the frustrations that got the president elected in the first place, and they were reflected again on Tuesday" in the Massachusetts election."

Spy drones will monitor U.K. citizens - 0 views

"Camera-equipped drones, developed by the British military for use in war, will be used in England to keep an eye on civilians from the sky, officials say. Police in Kent and Essex counties plan to start using them in 2012 for routine monitoring of motorists, protesters, agricultural thieves and illegal dumping, The Daily Telegraph reported Saturday. Collaboration between the police departments and BAE Systems, maker of the drones, began in 2007, the Telegraph said. A prototype for police use is expected to fly this year. Its high-resolution cameras can capture images from 20,000 feet."

Austin Texas Gunshow Update - 0 views

  • As many of you know, I am an attorney of two decades experience practicing law in Austin. I have been investigating the events surrounding the gunshow of last weekend where APD and ATF used intimidation tactics to pressure the landlord of the property to cancel future shows at the Crocket Center. The following is what I have learned from my review of the law and speaking to the promoter and an individual that had his private collection confiscated Saturday. On Tuesday APD attempted to deflect public attention by implying that multiple arrests at the location gave the city grounds to prosecute the landlords for nuisance. I am attaching a copy of the TX nuisance statutes and as anyone who can read can see–they clearly do not apply here. But what is really ridiculous about such a claim is that if arrests alone constitute grounds for nuisance, then every mall and HEB in the state would be nuisances since arrests for shoplifting occur at these locations constantly. The Crocket Center is owned by Walmart and leased to HEB, who in turn subleases to another entity which in turn leases it one weekend a month to the gunshow promoter. The individual who was hassled and had his half dozen firearms seized Saturday was a private citizen there to sell his collection. According to him, APD and/or ATF had a man approach him and offer to buy a gun; the man displayed a Texas Driver’s License to prove he was over 21. The sale was made and later APD officers roughly grabbed the shirt of the seller and marched him outside and accused him of selling to an illegal alien. This apparently is the latest tactic to entrap the unwary citizen in the ATF’s snare. As if anyone could possibly know the immigration or citizenship status of anyone else. Yet ATF seized all his firearms and told him the matter was “under investigation.” This, ladies and gentlemen, is the ‘possible illegal gun sale’ referred to as the reason for HEB to pull the plug on future shows in the Statesman article (attached).
