One of the best ways to infuse technology into your classroom experience is to have students create their own primary data with a digital camera. Cameras are an easy to use and motivating tool for students. Instead of searching the Internet for a copyright free image to use, have them create their own pictures whenever possible.

In image processing, computer graphics, and photography, high dynamic range imaging (HDRI or just HDR) is a set of techniques that allows a greater dynamic range of luminances between light and dark areas of a scene than normal digital imaging techniques. The intention of HDRI is to accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes ranging from direct sunlight to shadows.

There's two distinct steps to producing an HDR image. The first is to combine the multiple shots into a single image and the second is to tweak the display of that image to actually show all the data in a sensible way. The last part is the hard part and is called Tonal Mapping.

Digital Camera World: the September issue is chuck full of helpful tips, including an introduction to something I'd never heard of: HDR or High Dynamic Range or Digital Blending.  Essentially, you take two identical shots of a subject at different settings, and then combine them, choosing the best parts of each of them.  The results can be fantastic.  Something very new to learn, at age 42.  I'm amazed at how my Mac journey, now almost 10 months old, as basically led me to learn something very new almost every single day I've used this machine.

This is an easy step by step way to make a HDR (high dynamic range) photo with a Nikon D40. You can take a HDR photo using three or more photo. My step by step will show a five frame HDR. You will definitely want to use a tripod
