I've been interested in art for as long as I was able to hold a crayon. Since then, I've been trying to find as many creative outlets as possible, whether it be painting, wood-working, drawing, sculpting, performing. I love photography in all aspects. I have been doing photography for several years now and in the past few years have even gotten into modeling for fashion and artistic shots. The list goes on and on. I studied Fine Arts at Missouri State University for 2 years, and then also 2 years at the Kansas City Art Institute. I am also Cherokee Indian and try to hold onto that culture and heritage through Native American inspired projects. 

I'm Laura (sometimes known as Lo) and I'm 27 years old and live in Toronto Canada, a city that I love with all my heart. I work at a charity as a fundraiser, which fulfils my passion for helping others. Outside of work I like to take a few photos and write on this blog. Really, this is just a place for me to be creative and share a little bit about myself with others.

A 20 something year old from Northern Virginia Compulsive shopper, antique lover, traveler, vintage obsessed, runner, foodie, culture enthusiast, wannabe photographer, and now blogger. I use this blog as a creative outlet, and found myself a bit obsessive over it. Now lets dive into my world of fashion, finds, and decor.

My namesake blog is the story of my life in New York and a document of my personal style. Since starting as a hobby in 2010, my site now has a readership of over 87,000 a month and has featured in publications including Grazia Magazine and style.com.  Having started my fashion career in London, a year's travel sparked a wanderlust which led me to Australia, where I discovered a country teetering on the brink of creative explosion. I now live in New York where I work in social and digital media for luxury fashion brands.

Thanks for coming to Hairdresser On Fire! My work has been seen a little on TV, a little in magazines and a lot on my friends. I started this blog after getting a little tired of the same cut/blow dry combo I was doing all day-every day at the salon. The blog gives me more creative freedom by answering hair questions, posting beautiful photos and filming tutorials. I've worked in big and small hair salons in NYC for the last 6 years, and this is my way of spreading hair joy in a more fun way. Straight up high school sleep-over style. I have always been in love with fashion but I was born on a Native American reservation where it was not available. Growing up I looked through my mom's fashion magazines for inspiration, then I created outfits with what I had in my closet. When I left the "Rez" and moved to the "City" I went crazy for fashion!
