Imagine if the situation were reversed, and you had no legal recognition of the right to marry the person you loved because they were of the wrong gender. The right to marry anyone OTHER than the consenting adult you love is NO RIGHT to marriage at all. There is nothing neutral about it - it just seems that way to you because it does not affect your rights.
