The site compiled known benchmarks and "compared them to our existing database of tests." Bottom line? The iPhone 4S is underclocked to roughly 800 MHz, making it slower than Apple's current tablet, but still plenty fast, says the site.

NYC Considering Installing Enormous Touchscreens Instead Of Pay Phones - 0 views

  •
New York City has decided on replacing most of their pay phones with 32 inch touchscreen phones. These phones would be used for anything like Skype and other video services, email, wi-fi access, and *11 numbers. Most people don't know how to react to this change. Tourists would find it very helpful, but regular pay phone users would be very confused. Something that they had been used to using for so many years would now be replaced by something more high-tech. Also, many people in nyc have smartphones, so they wouldn't have any use for them. If anything, one could say that this new installation would be more for the tourists than the residents of the city.

iPhone 5 Release Date 2012: Why Apple's Smartphone May Cost More for Verizon Users - In... - 0 views

  •
This article identifies a potential setback for various iPhone users. With all the hype of Apple's iPhone 5, some 4S iPhone owners may be out of luck in terms of upgrades from cellphone carriers. Rumors have said that the iPhone 5 will be seeing a summer or fall 2012 launch but the story here is owners with the iPhone 4S may not be eligible for an upgrade when Apple releases it's newest phone, this means essentially users that rely on contract upgrades are put at a disadvantage. In addition, Verizon customers are affected by the upgrade issue the most, and it will cost these users more if they choose to upgrade to a iPhone 5. This is huge news to anyone who owns a iPhone 4S, especially if they are a Verizon customer, and they plan to buy a iPhone 5. The additional cost may be too much for buyers and they may just stick with what they have until a hopefully near price drop. Apple on the other hand could also suffer because the more people who buy the 4S can reflect to less people who will be able to afford the iPhone 5. The Apple company as well as many other Apple users highly anticipate the iPhone 5, and it could be something like this little dilemma that can angry consumers and could also lead users to leave the upgrade and essentially pass on Apple's phone this time around.

Flappy Bird Copycats Keep on Flapping - NYTimes.com - 0 views

  •
Apparently Flappy Bird was so iconic that people have and are still making different versions of it, like Flappy Doge, Flappy Bert, and even Fall Out Bird, despite the creator, Dong Nguyen, taking it off the App Store and Google Play because he was guilty over it being an addictive game. This fad resulted in thousands of merchandise and imitations, thereby clearly showing that the majority of people still can not get over this game. How I see it, this obsession of Flappy Bird that has possessed the nation is actually very scary because the end of the aftermath does not seem to be near, and also the overbearing attachment to it may cause a lot of problems in terms of relationships and school success.

RIM Announces New OS for BlackBerry Smartphones and Tablets - 1 views

  •
The new and improved OS for Blackberry, and its name? Blackberry BBX. BBX will be installed in Blackberry phones and tablets, with the possibility of systems in cars, next year. Apparently, it couples both "the best of QNX," which was the OS they bought out last year, and the current OS. BBX will have the capability to support all WebWorks and HTML5 apps that are currently being designed, with software for the Blackberry Playbook. Hopefully, this OS will be better than the current one, and on a side note, we can all pray that a certain company won't crash again for three days *ahem RIM cough cough*.

  •
Whether you're sliding a bar or pulling a puzzle piece across your smartphone screen, you're performing an action owned by Apple. Apple has full ownerhip of that gesture now. Whether you unlock a device using a gesture on a touch-sensitive display, display an icon telling users they have to unlock the device, design the icon to tell users which direction they have to swipe the icon to unlock the device, or provide visual cues for users that can't remember the unlock gesture, Apple owns it.
