A Mangaluru court Thursday sentenced serial killer 'Cyanide' Mohan Kumar for the rape and murder of an Anganwadi worker from Bantwal in 2005. VI Additional District and Sessions Judge Sayeedunnisa, who convicted Kumar for raping and murdering the woman in Bengaluru, awarded the death sentence.

In a disturbing incident, a first-year-student of a technology institute in Kerala had to be hospitalized after he was thrashed mercilessly by seniors during a ragging session. The student, Athul Mohan, sustained severe injuries on his arms and legs after getting beaten for over two hours.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled that a child born out of a marriage between a Muslim man and Hindu woman is legitimate and has rights on the father's property. The bench of justices NV Ramana and Mohan M Shantanagoudar noted the such a marriage is neither valid nor void but an 'irregular' one.
