राष्ट्रीय नमूना सर्वेक्षण कार्यालय (NSSO) की एक रिपोर्ट की मानें तो नोटबंदीके बाद देश में बेरोजगारी पिछले 45 साल के इतिहास में सबसे ज्यादा है। 2017-18 में देश में बेरोजगारी दर 6.1 प्रतिशत रही जो कि पिछले 45 साल में सबसे ज्यादा है। सरकार ने इस रिपोर्ट को अभी तक सार्वजनिक नहीं किया है। कहा जा रहा है कि हाल ही में राष्ट्रीय सांख्यिकी आयोग के दो सदस्यों ने रिपोर्ट सावर्जनिक न करने के कारण ही इस्तीफा दिया था।
