the Best Web 2.0 Applications for Education - 2007, here's my next "Best of.." list - the Web 2.0 applications which are most helpful to English Language Learners.

This is an interesting websites because it offers enjoyable activities. For example, there are several info gap activities. These information gaps usually come in twos. You will need to print both the A and B sheets. You can print them directly from the browser if you want, but they will look better if you save them and open them in any graphics program and print from there.

This website is awesome for playing grammar game. The site provides a variety of interactive games and exercises for total ESL fun. Free ESL fun games here include : Snakes and Ladders, Hangman, Spelling games, Wheel of Fortune, TV Games(Betting Game), Mazes, Memory Games, Matching exercises, Sequencing exercises, Picture Quizzes and more. Follow the links. You and your students will have FUN!!!

Reading levels of many children's books

Although this is a "store" of quizzes for many children's books, I primarily use it when determining a book's reading level for students. Many books are in this database. It is helpful when setting up a library for elementary students, but also for a parent who is curious about a book their child may be reading...is it appropriate? too hard? too easy? When you search for a title, and it is in the database, you are given its reading level.

My favorite poet to use when teaching students about non-traditional/non-rhyming poetry and my favorite in general. He also spent the last 40 years of his life in Lake Oswego teaching at Lewis & Clark College.

I like to use this site for teaching kids about reading charts and graphs; side benefit is making them more aware of the world they live in.

I use ideas from this website when my classes seem a bit squirmy and need to use up some energy to better help them concentrate!
