The Field of Mars Environmental Education Centre is an incredibly engaging excursion venue. I would recommend the Stage 1 excursion Invertebrates and Schoolyard Safari as it involves many hands on experiences for all students. When I took students on this excursion they were able to use a range of equipment to find and study these important animals. When we returned to school I found the students' understanding of this topic was significantly enhanced supporting the NSWQTF sub-dimensions like deeper knowledge, engagement and higher order thinking(HOT).
