ESSP Energy Workshop

Energy Literacy: Essential Principles and Fundamental Concepts for Energy Education presents energy concepts that, if understood and applied, will help individuals and communities make informed energy decisions. Development of the guide began at a workshop sponsored by the Department of Energy (DOE) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in the fall of 2010.

The Center for Science and the Schools (CSATS) facilitates mutually beneficial and sustainable relationships between K-12 schools and Penn State science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) researchers and outreach professionals, with the goal of helping to strengthen science and technology education.

The Pennsylvania Standards Aligned System (SAS) is a collaborative product of research and good practice that identifies six distinct elements which, if utilized together, will provide schools and districts a common framework for continuous school and district enhancement and improvement. Much research has been conducted as to what makes a great school.

The mission of the NEED Project is to promote an energy conscious and educated society by creating effective networks of students, educators, business, government and community leaders to design and deliver objective, multi-sided energy education programs. NARST: A Worldwide Organization for Improving Science Teaching and Learning Through Research. Since its inception in 1928, NARST has promoted research in science education and the communication of knowledge generated by the research. The ultimate goal of NARST is to help all learners achieve science literacy.
