Why you should fall to your knees and worship a librarian - Librarian Avengers - 0 views

  •
Just because.  I like this because it shows that Librarian's have a unique role in society.  We are important people in our respective social infrastructures.  So, let's enjoy this journey towards proficiency in "preserving every aspect of human knowledge." :)

Hmmm mmmm!  Almost right but not quite right.  See box 1 re the assumed meaning for the finger gesture in Australia.

I laughed on seeing this!  Re Intercultural Communication.  It's "almost" right for the first picture but not quite!  That's the thing with thinking we're fey with a culture if we've only just touched the surface.  Based on the first image and the reference to an Australian rude gesture that's "not quite accurate", my hunch is the others aren't either.  A thing from the interwebs not to be trusted.

Why Slowing Down Makes You an Expert Faster - 4 views

  •
This is a really valid point for those of us starting out on the Degree Journey.  It's all well and good to aim for HD's at every turn, but quite frankly, a HD won't matter squat once you finish.  What will matter, will be the integrity you have applied to becoming proficient in your area of expertise.  It's a slow journey and it must not be hurried or disabused of joy in discovery.

Thanks Michelle! This is really important for me as I'm the kind of person who kills herself trying to get the absolute best score. I'll have to remember perfection is not possible. There's always something that's not quite right. =)

A good guide to using the Citation tools in MS Word 2010 and Word for Mac 2011.  Be sure to double check that the Chicago citations match those required by the Curtin Chicago Referencing Guide.

No, Andrew Bolt Did Not Have A Point | The Global Mail - 4 views

  •
This is another excellent piece on the identity/ethnicity topic.  It is a rebuttal to the argument proposed by Gordon Weiss posted recently to the EITH Diigo.  That one was entitled "So, Did Andrew Bolt have a point?".  This rebuttal has been written by eminent Australian Journalist, Ellen Fanning.

I enjoyed this rebuttal too, Michelle.
