This article was interesting to me, because I tried and was rejected as a living donorfor my dad. I was told I could donate to someone else, but because of his disease, they would not perfrom a transplant on him.

I found this article through a link on dogpile. I found it interesting because I know they are also trying to deny transplants for people with Hepatitis C.

When faced with statistics about organ donation and transplants, the gap between donation and need is staggering. Lives are lost every day due to lack of donors, yet every day healthy organs are wasted by not being donated to help save the life of someone else. Although the majority of people accept organ transplantation as a necessary medical intervention, few are lining up to become donors. It's up to us to make a difference.

World Health Organization reports that worldwide, the cost of kidney market is about 6,000. The numbers have been given by Physicians and Brokers. Surveys have been taken from hospitals in Japan and also from deal in Indian Villages. Close to 40% of people who are natives of Pakistan happen to have only one kidney do to the marketing of organs. Digits are increasing when it comes to donation of organs from Pakistan. Non-nationals happen to be the ones who are the receivers of these kidneys. About two-third of transplants are made outside of Pakistan.
