Apple has created an App that turns your IPad into an interactive board. You can display it on your projectors and run it from the IPad.

Story lines is a fun app for developing stories as a team. It follows the same pattern as the game of telephone. One student begins with a phrase and the next student draw the picture. It follows with other students adding on to the story without knowing the original phrase.

This is a free website that allows young kids to create stories. It provides them with characters and lines. Once the story is created it can't be edited. The stories can be shared.

Open Office is an open software suite for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, databases and more. It is available in many languages and works on all common computers. It stores all your data in an international open standard format and can also read and write files from other common office software packages. It can be downloaded and used completely free of charge for any purpose.

I used open office before and was so grateful for it! Very comparable to Microsoft.

This is the website I use for my class blog.  It is quick for you and your students to register, it is safe for students to use and the format is simple, yet effective.  I have already witnessed some amazing learning and sharing on this site.

A brief study of the current usage of the word "curate." This word has become popular especially among those interested in so-called 21st Century learning/skills. What information do you "curate," and for whom do you present it?

I curate everything for my child, and for my students....apps, websites, games, field trips, resources, books; anything i know they could use and benefit from and enjoy. I also curate info on plants, especially native and edible ones, and how to grow and preserve them, and present it to whoever is interested. I really could "curate" a lot of things, being the resourceful person that I am...but I wouldn't want to come across as a know it all, trying only to speak when I know the info would be appreciated.

Helping keep the digital world civil . . . It's never too late to start working with students on digital citizenship, though! :-)

Great article about an emerging piece of technology hardware. It made me wonder about the new types of hardware and software we will be using in the near future. The "Day Made of Glass2" video is about 6 min. long and worth watching. I saw the original "Day Made of Glass" video in 2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Cf7IL_eZ38 (also about 6 min.) The 2nd one is great because it shows how students and teachers can use the new technology. Enjoy! :-)

Here's a good article by Kelli Marshall that talks about the importance of building your own digital identity, because she explains that if you don't make an effort to do it yourself, someone else will do it for you. The article provides some good pointers on things we can do to take control of solidifying our digital presence. A must read!

Adaptive learning is where software meets the student's learning needs and styles. Hopefully it will part of the curriculum and not relied on 100%. It take a "village" to raise a child.

This website provides amazing resources and lesson plans to teachers free of charge. There are online activities that students can complete as well from creating a book or cd cover to making a character biography cube.

A great resource for lesson plans that is aesthetically pleasing and easy to navigate. I've used it during my time as an undergraduate student, and found it very helpful.

Turning Learning on its Head

This is a very interesting concept of using digital learning at home and then having class time be used for project based work.

Yes! Flipped Classroom is a terrific concept. I have been really wanting to try it, but have not been able to make it around to creating the videos. A great site for videos is Khan Academy...maybe I should post that! :)

I found an online gradebook based on standards rather than points. It records the learning instead of the grade the student earned. I like the idea, but I do not think public school would use it without grades as well.
