What is an eLearning Authoring Tool? - 0 views

  •
Let's start with a simple definition: eLearning Authoring tools are used to create eLearning lessons. These tools have been around much longer than most people know. When asked, many guess that they started coming on the market recently or perhaps back in the 1990s. The truth is the National Science Foundation funded the first authoring tool, called PLATO, way back in 1960, and then another in 1967, called TICCIT. Both spawned many other authoring tools over the years.

Which eLearning Authoring Tool Should You Use? - 0 views

  •
4 Typical eLearning Projects and The Right eLearning Authoring Tool Some of the most rewarding moments in my career are times when a colleague or client asks with wonderment, "How did you do that?" after viewing an eLearning module or Just In Time training tool or resource I have created. My initial reply to this question is nearly always to list the learning technologies I used. I guess that somewhere in my mind I expect them to go out, get a copy of the software and start using the tool themselves, and so they really need this information. Silly, I know but without these tools, my job would be a lot harder. http://elearningindustry.com/which-elearning-authoring-tool-should-you-use

Screen Tutorials in Technical Learning - 0 views

In technical subjects, learners respond well and benefit from the inclusion of imagery and video. How Do I Make a Good Screencast? In technical subjects, learners respond well and benefit from the inclusion of imagery and video. It seems obvious that our preferences in consuming information are changing rapidly today and rely less on textual comprehensiveness and more on brevity and reliance on conceptual images, both static and moving. This may be a driving factor in the new face of e-learning in the 2010s or it may be an effect of learner preferences. Either way, it is imperative designers and developers of technical content at least be aware of these trends and be prepared to accommodate the way learners most effectively consume their material. Learning Technology is Grossly Overrated - 0 views

In a world where technology rules the day, the question should not be whether or not it is necessary, but if it is effective. In a world where technology rules the day, the question should not be whether or not it is necessary, but if it is effective. I am, and always have been, a harbinger of utilizing technology for learning initiatives. However, I am also wary of how quickly new technology is deemed the "best thing ever", particularly when it comes to training programs.

Remember The Force - 0 views

Must Learning Be Boring? Why Not Ask, How Can We Make Classrooms and Homework Fun? How many of you adults, when you were growing up, were forced by your parents to turn off the tube, and get back to your homework? Is that because television is often more stimulating? Sure, but must that remain so, forevermore? Can't we extract the useful aspects of multimedia, and leave the rest? Of course we can. Learning should be ignited by passion for learning and mastery, combined with equal measures of healthy competition and playfulness. Dopamine, and the power of habit, are powerful drivers of both individual and group achievement.
