    This is a fun, cute, social 3D island world designed especially with children in mind. children make an avatar and follow a quick tutorial and explanation of safety rules. The children can take their characters on quests, play educational games and interact with other users of the site. A fabulous feature of the site is that users are encouraged to 'make and do' offline as well. These activities can be uploaded to a scrapbook and multimedia blog. Offline activities also generate points in the game. The scrapbook is defaulted to private and no photos of children will be approved by moderators if the scrapbook is public. All the usual safety features are in place, including a 'report' and 'block' other users button. The basic account with most features is free, but there are optional 'paid for' extras. http://ictmagic.wikispaces.com/ICT+%26+Web+Tools

UKEdMag: Get their hands dirty! by @MissNina1983 - 0 views

  •
    It is essential that children in today's 'technology focused world' get real, hands-on experiences. The only things that some of my children have in their hands, once at home, are games console controls! By making learning fun and interactive we can engage children in finding out about the world around them and their past, instilling a love of learning and giving them some practical skills to use in the real world...

    When you make your eyes big and point finger at them, you are showing that you don't believe in the divinity in them. As parents we are always wagging our finger at our children, with a critical eye and are saying do this and do not do that. Parents to be shown how to protect children online | Technology | The Guardian - 0 views

  • Her report, treading a delicate line between tighter regulation and better coordinated parental education, will argue that industry and government must do more to provide information to parents on how to set timers on computers, video games and console games. She will propose:
  • · New codes of practice to regulate social networking sites, such as Bebo and Facebook, including clear standards on privacy and harmful content;· A gold standard for the use of console games, including clear set-up guidance for parents on issues such as pin codes and locks;· Better information for parents on how to block children accessing some websites. Byron has been struck that the technology exists to impose timers and filters, but there has been little take-up, knowledge or development of the technology;
  • She will also concede that academic research on the impact of the net on children and their lifestyles is inadequate.

  • Her research has shown that parents are most worried by predators and children are most concerned by cyberbullying.

Change and why we all see it differently - The Learner's Way - 0 views

  •
     If the young people of today are to thrive beyond the walls of the classroom they will need to be able to cope with a world characterised by volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. The children of todays Kindergarten will enter the workplace in the fourth-decade of the 21st Century. We debate the merits of teaching 21st Century Skills and what they might be while teaching children who have lived their entire lives in that very century. The challenge is how will schools and individual teachers respond to this drive for urgent change.

Great Ideas For Healthy LunchBox | Best 10 schools in Tricity - 0 views

  •
    As guardians and educators, we realize that lunch box is something extremely imperative for the school going children. The lunch box that a student takes to the school isn't only some other box - It's a pack brimming with affection, wellbeing, taste and a considerable measure of astounding recollections, making it one of the most prized possessions of a student's backpack! At the point when the lunch box is so imperative for the kids, it needs to have something uncommon in it consistently! children frequently gripe of eating same old and exhausting stuff each day in the meal break. It's essential to break the dreariness of the tiffin now and again, and pack it up with some new and energizing nourishment! Here are a couple of crisp thoughts from Hallmark Public School - (the best school in Panchkula) for tiffin-accommodating nourishment for the school students.

How might we prepare our students for an unknown future? - The Learner's Way - 0 views

  •
    How might we prepare our students for an unknown future? If we accept that we are living in times of rapid change and that the world our children will inhabit is likely to be very different from the world of today, or perhaps more importantly, different from the work our current education system was designed to serve, what should we do to ensure our children are able to thrive?
