100 (Legal) Sources for Free Stock Images | Virtual Hosting Blog - 1 views

  •
If you've ever tried to design a website or blog, you've probably felt the need to add images to your creation. It can be easy to see the Internet as a free-for-all, but images belong to the people who created them. Staying legal means you'll have to either create your own images or buy them from stock sites. Fortunately, there are a number of sources for free images, and we've collected them here. So read on for 100 sources where you can find free stock images: and don't worry - they're all legal!

A stunning collection of aerial 360 degree images from famous locations from around the world. Peer down at the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong harbour or the tranquil scenery of Fiordland in New Zealand. Each HD image can be rotated and you can zoom in to see the details in finer clarity. You can even embed a rotating image on to your site. http://ictmagic.wikispaces.com/Photos+%26+Images

ALPHAILA » Blog Archive » Fast Food - Ads vs. Reality - 21 views

  •
The difference between advertised fast foods and what they really look like when bought. Photoshoot conducted by a professional, and images of actual food purchased are compared to the idealized version from advertisements. Great study for marketing and photography students.

Wow! That's an amazing representation of what I've always noticed, but never captured on film. This site would be a great addition to a unit on advertising and persuasion. I did such a unit in the past with really terrific results; see http://teachwithpicturebooks.blogspot.com/2010/05/as-seen-on-tv-media-messages-unmasked.html for some ideas I incorporated.

That's exactly what I was thinking too Keith; using the site in a lesson, or unit, about advertising, and how manipulative it can be. There's another site with images here, although it doesn't have any of the contemplative thoughts of the original bookmark (http://www.thewvsr.com/adsvsreality.htm).

Manipulation News, Videos, Reviews and Gossip - Lifehacker - 1 views

The sooner kids realize that most magazine images are photoshopped, the better. I remember a model on a tv show being asked what it feels to look like her and responding thatbwith all the photoshop on her photos that she wished she looked like herself too! This is a great thing and some would like advertisers to start disclosing the percentage of their photos that are photoshopped.

Upload pictures or start from scratch and "paint" in the style of a famous artist. A fun way to spruce up your images, but also an interesting way for art educators to let students explore different styles using digital photographs.
