A useful online guide which accompanies an excellent book written to introduce students to historical research and writing.

I've found Lifehacker guides to be reliable in this area. This is their current guide for when to buy things this year and they keep it updated. If you have major purchases coming up and live in the US, I recommend reviewing this guide and sharing it.

I've known Leslie Bowman for over a decade. She's a great online teacher. Her book is filled with the wisdom of experience. Check it out! ~ Dennis "Online education programs at the high school, undergraduate, and graduate levels represent one of the fastest growing trends in education today. Learner guides are supplied as colour printed and wire bound booklets. Each learner guide is illustrated in colour and details procedures in a step-by-step format to provide the dental assistant with the skills and knowledge to competently and safely assist during oral health care procedures, to maintain high standards of infection control and to assist with practice administration.

You can't swing a stick in social media without hitting something on Facebook. Same goes for education. You can't talk about how technology is revolutionizing education without mentioning Facebook. It's a simple service to figure out but what about once you become a regular user? If you're a teacher, you would be well served by spending 3 minutes to read through this must-have guide. (We timed it out and it's a bit under 3 minutes. It's almost summertime, you can spare it for us!)

An interesting guide from edutopia for parents that you can share with your parents and PTO. They share a lot of examples of 21st century learning and as you work to build support for these things, this is a great document to share. (Full Disclosure: The digiteen project is listed for middle school - after this was listed, we saw such an inundation of schools wanting to do the project, we created the DigiTween project for kids aged 10-12 and Digiteen is still for kids aged 13+.) There are a lot of other great sites including the World Peace game, information on Skype in the Classroom, World of Warcraft in School and the Digital Youth Network. Download and share.

New guide for parents from the Federal Trade Commission about protecting children online. It says that parents should get a "plain language notice" about information will be collected before they want to use features on an site or download an app that collects their personal information. I'm very curious how this is going to happen since often parents aren't involved in the app installation process for their children. Review the parent guide to understand the current rules.

A learning guide for Project Based Learning that you can download and review. A great PD tool for the break.

The New York Times has a handy guide for organizing a student newspaper staff including the roles and how to balance print and online "voices". I also like the section in the guide "Using the Paper to Enhance the Curriculum."
