The Brainstormer is a random story idea generator. The Brainstormer has three wheels of words. Each click of the "random" button spins all three wheels. If you're struggling to develop an idea to start a fiction story simply click the "random" button to spin the wheels of the Brainstormer.

Solvr: the free, private, outline-style group brainstorming / discussion tool - Welcome... - 6 views

  •
Solvr is an older tool and the issues that Kevin Jarrett shares here still exist, however, it is a tool that could be used in the classroom. This would be useful for prewriting and brainstorming but I agree that the potential for "shenanigans" is substantial. That said, if you have a small group, it is something you could use.

Brainstorm: Junk Analysis of Higher Ed by the 'Times' - Chronicle.com - 0 views

  • This isn’t good for anyone’s education: The only virtue of the arrangement is its cheapness, and that cheapness hasn’t lowered tuition; it’s simply served to provide money pots for high-rolling administrators to spend on favored projects and the expansion of the business curriculum. It’s also created a need to expand the ranks of management to train and supervise the constantly-churning mass of student and other casual workers.
  • journalists are living the same permatemping as the faculty, under the same quality management gutting the public sphere under both Republicans and Democrats
  • four decades of student casualization
  • ...1 more annotation...
  • What about Joel Westheimer, who they illegally fired for supporting the grad student union, despite having the support of his entire discipline? Or any of the grad students themselves, who are doing better analysis of their employment than Stimpson.

Acrostic poem maker - 34 views

  •
In this online tool, students can learn about and write acrostic poems. An acrostic poem uses the letters in a word to begin each line of the poem. All lines of the poem relate to or describe the main topic word. As part of the online tool, students brainstorm words to help write their poems and can save their work-in-progress to revise and edit, reinforcing elements of the writing process. Students can also print their finished acrostic poems or proudly show off their work by e-mailing it to a friend.

JESS KLEIN: Webmaking 101 for Journalists: A Prototype - 1 views

  •
It is great to watch this Webmaking 101 course for journalists evolve. jess Klein wants to "create authentic learning experiences around webmaking projects." This is a brainstorm about how to teach journalists the basics of html, css, and copyright authentically. I'm looking for the site. I love it. The site would strip out everything but the text and let the journalists add things back in.

Interesting Digital Concept map from Amal Abouldhosn and her class as they discuss media. She says "my students were born in 1998, so they've never really lived on a planet without cell phones or internet." This is a great way to brainstorm and discuss such topics- especially ones where the students have a lot of personal knowledge.
