Today is the debut of the Adobe digital school collection. Adobe TV has a ton of videos and resources to help you teach the adobe programs. I am teaching photoshop this week. These are some great resources if you do anything with adobe.

adobe has their 2011 Adobe Design Achievement awards that honors the best student work with the program. These students will travel to Taipei, Taiwan and showcased in a ceremony. Here is information on the competition.

Adobe Air has new apps become available daily.

Adobe Air will let you store searches on craig's list and access them even when your computer is offline. Adobe Air has some cool things that are coming and this is just one of them. I wonder how it will affect download time?

One of the things I have as my "big three" this year is the concept of a paperless portfolio using adobe acrobat pro. I'm a member of Adobe ed exchange and am using it to find all kinds of great resources. This page has links to best practices for eportfolios, digital assessment, as well as streamlining admin tasks. Useful resources. The cool thing is you can annotate with video, audio, an text and pdfs move very well onto ipads and devices like that.

For those of you already developing educational apps, this might be a great way to win some money for your school (or yourself) and a Sony Tablet. The online word processor from Adobe. This is one to watch because of testing and future compatibility with Adobe Air, a "plugin" that will let you take things offline and be online, although the word processor runs in a web browser. We are much closer to this environment.

We can always learn more about how to teach graphic design and visual composition - even us rank and file "geeky people." Wow!

Free atomic learning on creating eportfolios with Adobe Acrobat X from Atomic Learning.

Adobe adds 3D printing to photoshop. Yes! 3D is going mainstream.

Cool. I just wish I could do something like this. I'm following his work in Adobe's ed exchange to learn more.

One of the concerns about ipads is the inability to use flash or javascript. This can be done. Here are the top 10 flash players. If you limit down to those that can do Flash AND java - the options are a bit pricey - Cloud Browse does both but only lets you have 10 minute browsing sessions. Virtual Firefox ($4.99) and Virtual Browser for Chrome (19.99) each can allow Java and Flash and also bookmark/sync services with your desktop browser (5.99 and .99 respectively.) This may be a tad expensive but show it can be done. The highest rated is virtual browser for chrome. I think the chrome browser is a tad pricey. You do have to be 17 to download these apps, I guess because you can use them to access video. 

I have to admit that I've become a huge Acrobat Pro fan. We use it in my classroom to print, annotate, and do all kinds of things. I look forward to learning about how to use this program to convert everything into year end portfolio dvds with movies, text, etc. 

One of the challenges for some teachers may be if you as the teacher use photoshop and the studetns are using elements. These videos about Photoshop Elements 10 may be helpful.

Adobe has their new Digital School Collection which really makes some very powerful tools affordable to schools. (Goes live December 1st) - here are some great tutorials and presentations on the TES website about photoshop and graphic design. Sometimes for these tough programs it helps to use things that other teachers have already used.
