Should teacher value-added information be released publicly?  I agree that evaluation decisions should not be based solely on one criterion but think something like value-added data should be public information. I would want to know this kind of information about my children's teachers.

IN her final set of reflections, Sandy uses a new feature, that of Google plus tagging in a blogger blog, which is how I found what she wrote! IF you use blogger, use the plus and tag people and we'll find you more easily than the traffic type things. Finally an advantage for being on blogger besides just tight integration with Google. I love how her work with edtech and ipads is part of what she's done. With all she's been through: layoffs, cancer, adding onto her house - I think I've found a new hero and definitely someone I"ve added to my PLN. I've known of her work, but now I"m a fan. Sometimes, when you open up, share and reflect, you connect on a deeper, more personal level than if you pretend like life is perfect. TEachers, lets stick together and encourage each other.

What's a hashtag? Hashtags are a community-driven convention for adding additional context and metadata to your tweets. They're like tags on Flickr, only added inline to your posts. Hashtags can be created by anyone simply by prefixing a word with a hash symbol: #myhashtag.

If you are a teacher on twitter, you can "join" this group - which means nothing except your name is added to a list. I like this b/c it helps teachers find other teachers. Wish it let you put a little info but you can look at the twitter id's - I like that it is automated even the excessive ads are a little bothersome, I can live with that -- share your id or make another group.

Science applications (Apps) for iPod Touch offer students and teachers excellent tools to help students spend more time learning science content in class and laboratory situations. Although many Science Apps are loaded with ads and other distracting information, I have found several that are free of ads.

A site developed to help students achieve fact fluency. It's free, and ad free with the goal of remaining that way. It's a non-profit operating on grants and donations.  It only has memorization as a development tool at this time, but I hope that they will start adding strategy development and support.

Affordable Broadband from EveryoneOn: A critical component to connected learning, Microsoft's non-profit partner EveryoneOn is offering home Internet service for as low $10 to the 36 million Americans living in low-income communities."

I don't get how public displays of rudeness and bigotry can be defended by free speech laws.  Am I missing something?

The company that will be working with us for the ad4dcss project to make available a course for parents, teachers, and teens about digital citizenship. A growing group of volunteers is picking up to make this happen.
