A free, downloadable website that provides students options for accessing web content minus the clutter. It is a great tool for students that need to change the visuals on a page, bringing the text forward. You can customize the font size and type to suit a student's style. Let's you save articles in that format to your iPad too.

MCAS Alt material - 0 views

  •
I found that this website offers a variety of material that can be utilized for the MCAS Alt exams. Along with MCAS sheets, this site offers activities and art projects that I'm kind of excited to use in my class. I found a project where the students paint on terra-cotta pots, resembling the vases of ancient Greece. This makes me want to create a unit on Greece just so I can do this project with the kids.

"About Teaching Mathematics" by Marilyn Burns - 1 views

Here's a textbook assigned in at least one other Gordon class. It presents a model of teaching mathematics that is far more engaging for students than what you and I likely remember. It's free by using your Gordon library number, so this could save you about $40 as it did for me.

This is a behavior management tool, made FUN! Each student is a "monster" and you can create different classes. Choose or add your own behavior expectations to give immediate feedback to students on how they're doing. You really just gotta try it.

Rockin the Standards - Reviews - 1 views

I had never heard of these guys until Mark brought them up in class. I had to check it out. Now I'm trying to see how we can integrate their songs at our school. I have even passed it on to my principal. It's right up his alley!

ABCya is a wonderful website that we use at out centers with Pre-K and K ages. It is loaded with free online educational games. The games are mostly math and ELA based and are fun and interactive.

This website includes interactive hands-on activities for Pre-K to 12 in the areas of Numbers and Operations, Algebra, Geometry, Measurement, and Data Analysis & Probability. These are great for use with the SMARTBoard, on individual computers for practice, or even just projected onto a screen and done as a class activity.

Shit My Students Write - 0 views

  •
Not necessarily appropriate for students, but very entertaining.
  •
Okay--this is not necessarily appropriate for students, but is valuable for educators who need to handle the demands of the work by acknowledging that sometimes, there is nothing you can do but just laugh. If you run across something worthy of notice among your own classes, you can immortalize your students' writing gems by submitting them to the blog. Educational applications? Well, there are some fine and entertaining mistakes which could provide fodder for exercises in editing, revision, etc. as well as discussion on the importance of choosing the right word. If you check out the site, you'll see what I mean. Enjoy!
