"About Teaching Mathematics" by Marilyn Burns - 1 views

  •
Here's a textbook assigned in at least one other Gordon class. It presents a model of teaching mathematics that is far more engaging for students than what you and I likely remember. It's free by using your Gordon library number, so this could save you about $40 as it did for me.

EdTech Solutions - Teaching Every Student: ReThinking: "He Doesn't Want to be Seen as D... - 0 views

  •
I've heard that refrain numerous times. "But... he doesn't want to be seen as different." It's usually uttered in response to specific technology recommendations offered during the IEP team process. The team typically nods their head in agreement; after all, it is a priority that the student completes school tasks in the same manner as their peers, or uses the same school tools as their friends.(Or is it?)

  •
"When I first started teaching it was a goal of mine to integrate technology into the classroom as much as I could. I began my teaching career after being a graphic designer and working for a textbook publisher. That experience taught me how important technology is in the real world." This website has neat ideas on how to incorporate technology in early childhood classrooms.

English Companion Ning - Where English teachers go to help each other - 1 views

  •
This site--English pedagogy guru Jim Burke's ning--is a treasure trove for middle school and secondary English instructors. Joining requires verification of your relationship to a learning institution. The site is well organized, allowing me to browse by general topics and within forums. It's a virtual teacher's lounge, allowing for quick takes on strategies for teaching any number of things, or in depth discussion on the viability of Literature Circles for Shakespeare study. I could easily get lost in the forest of great ideas here.
