I simply enjoy how easy of a read this source is. Articles are so boring and make it hard for me to concentrate while I'm reading and this sources is still giving valuable information, but offers an easy to read layout and language.

This is a blog entry, which can make me skeptical of the quality of the information. With digital use, our brain is rewired. If this isn't reason enough that we should not be teaching like it is 1980, I don't know what is.

Web App: Online Timer Countdown + Online Alarm Clock + Online Stopwatch Timer-tab is a website that allows teachers and students to manage their time in class. This site has a built-in countdown, alarm clock and stopwatch. The background of the timer can be changed via any image URL, and YouTube videos can be embedded and will play once time is up.

Nearpod is a tool that enables teachers to use their devices to manage content on students' devices. It combines presentations, collaboration, and real-time assessment tools, allowing teachers to embed polls, quizzes and drawings, as well as video and other content, into slides in Nearpod.

This is a great resource for students learning about different locations. Different from the traditional travel videos which show the normal tourist attractions and provide no personal connections to the audience. Students are exposed to authentic travel experiences and they feel as if they are there. Great for virtual tours.

This website gives teachers free access to lesson plans and videos that connect to different content areas. The lessons vary from online or offline work and they often provide way to integrate current events into any classroom.

Another website that provides the opportunity to get videos streamed live into the classroom. These are general produced by PBS and A&E.

This was created by Discovery Education to allow teachers to be able to stream videos on a variety of subjects into their classrooms. It does cost a bit of money but many districts are finding that it is a worthwhile expense. You can sign up for a free trial to use it in your classroom.

I have long been a proponent of gaming in education, if for no other reason than the fact that I like video games, whether they are educational or not. I had the good fortune to have an opportunity to work for a short while with some individuals from MIT Education Arcade (although we couldn't get a product concept together), and this reinforced my belief that gaming has the possibiity of extending learning farther outside the classroom than has been seen in a long time.

This nonprofit site not only provides information on international heroes for students, but it also requests student reporters. Reports can be written or videos can be created. Pictures can also be uploaded.

This website is designed to teach about heroes and humanity. People can submit essays, art or films they have created about a hero of their choosing.

This site, created by Scholastic, is jammed with activities for students and teachers. I personally like the authors and illustrators page, on which students can view videos about authors, and participate in writing workshops where authors give students tips on how to improve their writing in a specific genre.
