Soundation is a powerful online music studio with recordings, effects, virtual instruments and over 400 free loops and sounds. This is another great option for those student more interested in the audio side of video production. Geared more towards high school students, but could possibly be used in lower grades with a small amount of training.

This is a great resource that covers all assets of video production. I find that a number of my students come across this resource on their own every year when studying for quizzes or needing a quick refresher on any given topic. Contains many great photos and examples as well. Quizzes are available for teachers who would like to take advantage of that option.

This is a good resource for the teacher who would like their class to create a video slide show of various images. This might be a better option than using Windows Movie maker for some teachers. Students can access their video at home whether they have a PC or a Mac.

This could be one option for teachers who are looking for a way to have their students post their videos online. Videos can be shared only with select people. The player could be posted on a classroom website and the video shown on it can be driven by what is submitted by the students. You can set security features so the videos won't be seen by the public. I would keep this resource limited to students in the high school level.

This website includes a great introduction to the film making process. Its broken up in to easy to navigate sections such as scripting, storyboarding, etc. Can be used in classrooms anywhere between grades 6-12. Cons: site contains advertisements.

As I plan to design my classroom to best fit the needs of video production students, I refer to this website as an example.

Grade Level: 6-12 This is quite possibly my favorite go to website in my collection. I have been using this resource since my first day of teaching. Not only does this website offer a number of great assignments and resources, but the teacher is also quick to respond to any questions you might send his way. My first year teaching I came across this website and was in pretty regular contact with this teacher for the first couple months. I learned a solid foundation from his resources.

Grade Level: 6-12 I think some of my best ideas were ones that were scaffolded off of another teacher's website. This link is to a high school video production in none other than Hollywood, CA. It is set up in the style of a blog, so you can take note of daily activities in their classroom as they happen. This may or may not spark an idea in your own classroom.

Grade Level: 5-12 AFI ScreenNation features the best films and videos from young filmmakers on the web as well video tips and contests. Films can only be submitted by students ages 11-19 years of age.

Grade Level: 6-12 Create free online video, music and photo mashups. This website is great for the video production enthusiast on the go. This can not only be used in a video production classroom, but for almost any other subject as well.

This website contains hundreds of music clips that students can use in their videos without worrying about copyright infringement. Clips are updated on a regular basis.

Grade Level: 6-12 This website allows students to create their own music. This is great when dealing with the whole issue of copyright infringement. For students who are more interested with the audio side of video production this could be a bonus opportunity. Con: Their isn't anytime in the video production curriculum to go over new software. This would have to be something students learn on their own. Luckily the website is very user friendly.

Grades K-12 A resource for teachers and students to receive practice and resources for reading and language arts instrucion. A great tool for teachers to use to assess students reading and language art skills.

Grades 3-12 A great resource or tool to learn how to create screencasts. This site can be used by teachers and students as a tutorial of how to create scrrencasts for specific projects.

Grades K-5 A resource of interactive activities that incorporate math and language arts along with computer skills (using a mouse) for students. This site can be used as a center to reinforce math, language arts and computer skills and concepts.

Grades K-3 An interactive site that teaches students the importance of maps, how to use maps and offers map games to reinforce map skills. Teachers can use this site when delivering lessons on maps and maps skills.

Grade 2-5 Offes geography and map skills activities and games for students. This site can be used to reinforce map skills for students. Teachers can use these activities in a large group to assess students knowledge and understanding of map skills.

Grades 3-6 A resource of free educational podcasts of science experiments as well as other subject areas for students. Teaches can use these science podcasts as visual aids to go along with science experiments. The other aspects of the site can be used in a variety of ways but especially as a visualcompnent with concepts that go along with science and social studies contents.

All grade levels Teachers enter in spelling/vocabulary lists that the site generates into interacive learning activities including games (hangman, word searches, matching games). Also includes a "teach me' and "test me" option- generated from entered words. Grades 1-5 A resource for interactive activities to give students practice with weekly spelling words. This is a great activity for students to utilize at home when practicing weekly spelling words. It is a more engaging activity for students to complete spelling activities.

Purpose of the Website: This informational website is a resource for teachers that help them to develop webquests. All of the components of the webquest are explained to help teachers create their own webquests. There are also links to sample webquests that can be used by students or viewed as samples before you create your own. Grade Level: Professionals Classroom Connection: The resources on this website offer for a variety of different webquests that can be used throughout the year on many different topics. Negatives of this Website: Some of the links have not been updated and are no longer working.
